Puka Nacua quickly became a star in the 2023 NFL season — and his girlfriend, Hallie Aiono, was cheering him on from the sidelines.

The Los Angeles Rams wide receiver has been dating his girlfriend since at least 2021 when he was a student at Brigham Young University. The couple posted photos of each other on their Instagrams, including photos of them attending a Los Angeles Lakers game together in January 2024.

When Nacua scored his first touchdown as a pro in the NFL, Aiono posted a now-viral TikTok of herself crying while watching the special moment on TV.

So who is Puka Nacua’s girlfriend? Here’s everything you need to know about Hallie Aiono and her relationship with the NFL star.

She is of Polynesian origin

Aiono grew up in Arizona with three siblings. Her brother, Alex Aiono, opened up about his Polynesian origins in an interview with Hawaii magazine in 2017, explaining that their mom is American, while their dad is half Samoan and half Maori.

“My family’s Polynesian roots are there,” he said of his dad. “Aiono is a Samoan surname. There is a ton of Aion in Samoan culture. It’s like the last name Smith.”

Like Aiono, Natsua is also Polynesian, and his grandmother and mother emigrated from Western Samoa, Salt Lake Tribune.

He has a famous brother

Aion’s brother, Alex, is a singer who rose to fame by posting covers on his YouTube channel when he was a teenager. The family moved to Los Angeles from Arizona when he was 14 years old, and from then on his career took off. He collaborated with singers such as John Legend and tried his hand at acting, performing in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.

Aiono is close to Alex and often posts videos of herself singing with him on her Instagram. A pair of siblings even have the same letter A tattoos on their wrists.

“I’m so happy that you’re my older brother and best friend. Always proud of you🤍,” Aiono wrote under a photo of the two debuting their new ink on Instagram.

She has held multiple jobs from dental assistant to content creator

According to Aion’s LinkedIn, she lives in LA and has held numerous positions since her teenage years. Her first job was as a paraprofessional at Lauren’s Institute of Education where she worked in classrooms with children with special needs.

In 2019, she transitioned to a dental assistant job and continued her career in that position for another four years until January 2023. During that time, she also started another gig as a content creator under contract with NewNew in November 2022. As a creator for NewNew, Aiono is wrote that she was able to travel to different states, making videos based on challenges that people gave her.

Aiono also regularly posts content on its own social media platforms, sharing videos and photos with its more than 100,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok.

They have been in a relationship since at least 2021

Natua and Aiono have kept most of their relationship offline, especially in their early days, although Aiono has shared a glimpse of their romance on social media.

One of the earliest TikTok videos featuring Nacua is from November 2021, where Aiono and one of her sisters try to guess the names of NFL teams based on their logos. At points in the video, Aiono turns to Nacua, who laughs at how bad they are at identifying the teams.

She supports his career

Aiono is a mainstay in the stands while Nacua is on the field, often posting photos of herself at his matches. In a cute video from January 2024, Natsu runs up to her side to give her a quick kiss before returning to the game.

While her football knowledge may not have been the best in 2021, she has quickly made up for it since Nacua joined the NFL, tracking his records. In January 2024, Aiono posted a TikTok of herself watching Nacua play as he was about to break the rookie record for receiving yards and receptions.

“Today is a very big day. Puka will break the newspaper record for receiving yards and receptions,” Aiono said in the video. “He only needs four catches and 29 yards.”

The next day, Aiono posted another video after Nacua successfully broke the record, sharing how she set up decorations for him and cooked him a steak dinner while he was flying home from his game against the San Francisco 49ers.

“So Puka broke his record… like it’s so crazy, I never doubted him, but as more people are talking about it, I’m like ‘Yeah, it’s crazy,'” she said on her TikTok. “But it’s like Puka, like yeah, he should have done it. Nothing surprising, but very, very exciting.”

In October 2023, Nacua scored his first NFL touchdown, which made Aion emotional. She posted a video of herself watching the special moment on TikTok and turned the camera towards her as she began to slowly cry after realizing he had done it.

She put her hands over her mouth in shock before wiping away her tears and saying, “Oh my God.”

The NFL reposted the sweet moment on its Instagram, writing, “Just Nacua’s girlfriend Hallie watching him score the winning touchdown will blow your mind. 🥹.”
