Biography of Talib Kweli
Talib Kweli Greene was born on October 3, 1975 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York. Brenda Greene, his mother, is an English professor who works at Medgar Evers College, which is part of the City University of New York. His father works in the administration department at Adelphi University. Talib Kweli has a well-educated brother named Jamal Greene.
He graduated from Yale Law School and is now a professor of constitutional law at Columbia Law School. Talib attended Cheshire Academy in Connecticut before transferring to Brooklyn Technical High School. He also studied experimental theater at New York University. Talib’s Afrocentric songs were always inspired by rap styles. Talib Kweli married DJ Eque in 2009. He and Darcel Turner have two children, Amani Fela Greene and Diane Eshe Greene.

Career
Talib Kweli first appeared on the rap scene in 1996. He was featured on Cincinnati’s Doom album and Ohio group Mood. Talib and DJ Hi-Tek first met in Cincinnati. Later in their careers, the two worked together on projects such as Reflection Eternal. Talib returned to New York between 1998 and 2000. He and Mos Def formed the group Black Star. They released an album called Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are the Black Star, which was produced by Hi-Tek. This album was released in 1998.
Talib and Hi-Tek released an album called Train of Thought in 2000. Mos Def and Talib Kweli collaborated on the Hip Hop for Respect project in 2000. This was primarily organized as a protest against the Amadou Diallo case. In 2001, Talib and Mos contributed to the compilation album Red Hot + Indigo. Kweli released his first solo album in 2002. He was also part of Kanye West’s debut album, The College Dropout, which was a huge success. Talib collaborated with Rawkus Records and Blacksmith Records, and in 2011 he started his own record label, Javotti Media. Talib Kweli is also known for his activist and humanitarian work.
