Who Is Tineke Younger From “Next Level Chef”?

The Next Level Chef returns to FOX on Sunday, February 12, with a brand new season featuring 18 contestants. Tineke Younger, one of the contestants, started working in the culinary field in his sophomore year of high school. This 21-year-old is a social media/TikTok chef competing for the $250,000 grand prize.

Gordon Ramsey, Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais will serve as chef mentors for Next Level Chef 2023. According to the show’s concept, each mentor will recruit six contestants under their wing. Tineke is a member of Richard’s team.

Tineke recounts how she became interested in cooking.

Tineke Younger was born in Frederick, Maryland and currently lives in Evans, Georgia. Her first encounter with the culinary profession came in her sophomore year when she attended the Frederick County Public Schools’ Career and Technology Center. At the time, Tineke was facing terrible scores and was looking for a passion to stay motivated. However, the trip to the center in search of beauty did not give her the necessary motivation until she smelled the food.

In an interview with The Frederick News-Post, the young chef said:

“I completely despise it. “This is not for me,” I thought, and on my way out, I smelled food in the hallway.

She asked about the culinary program and then went back to her alma mater to pursue her new hobby. Tineke explains:

“Things were different. I got a D and an F. I even got a D in PE. I didn’t try. I wasn’t interested in school. My grades improved after that. I discovered that I really have the ability to cook and that’s something I really enjoy.

She went on to say:

“Because I wasn’t the best kid, my behavior also improved. I got in trouble and was taken to the principal’s office. But my behavior changed for the better when I discovered my passion.”

Tineke decided to change her TikTok profile in 2021 while attending a cooking training course at Frederick Community College’s Monroe Center: Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism Institute and working in a restaurant.

She stated:

“I thought it would be fun, so I recorded and played it. [on TikTok] tomorrow. There are 14 million views and I have 300,000 followers. She went viral on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. It’s really funny. Celebrities have contacted me.”

One of her posts, in which she created a fried chicken sandwich, has had more than 25 million views. When her follower count exceeded 27,000, she was contacted by the creators of FOX’s Next Level Chef. She quickly became a competitor and member of the Richard Blais team.
