Few couples can say they met on the set of a hit television series, but actor Tom Hardy and actress Charlotte Riley can.

Riley grew up in Teesside in North East England and is the youngest of three children. In his 2018 interview with You Magazine, Riley said she hasn’t lost her regional accent.

The actress spoke openly about various issues in the media industry, from access to childcare to women in film. In an interview with S. 2021 Grace, she discussed the need for the industry to support working women through their motherhood to increase the representation of women on screen.

“Right now our industry is absolutely booming. And we need as many people as possible in the production pot to choose from,” she shared. “And if we want that representation on the screen, we have to have it while the movies are being made. So you want the movies to be made by women, directed by women, written by women. But if you want that, we’re going to have to support them as they go through one of the biggest changes in their life.”
