Whoopi Goldberg Ate Cat Treats at 2 a.m. Thinking They Were Pretzels: ‘I Was Not High’ 

Whoopi Goldberg had an unusual (and unfortunate!) late night meal.

During the episode View On Monday, June 17, the TV personality shared how she somehow ended up eating cat treats instead of pretzels in the middle of the night. Goldberg (68) has just returned from Italy where she and other comedians met Pope Francis.

“I’m at home. Maybe I wasted a little more time than I thought. I wasn’t high. I didn’t have anything to drink,” she told the story at the beginning.

She continued: “It’s 2 in the morning and there are these wonderful pretzels called Dot’s Pretzels, which I love. So sometimes you know when you get a bag of Dot’s Pretzels that they’re broken in half.”

After mentioning her favorite snack, she explained how her daughter Alex Martin, 51, was partly to blame for the confusion.

“So my kid decided to leave some cat treats on the other side of my bag so that if the cat wanted treats, she could come up and get them because I wasn’t going to get up,” Goldberg recalled. dramatically. “But this daughter of mine put a bag of cat treats, she put them right next to Dot’s! So 2 in the morning, you know what comes next.”

She said she “stopped by at 2 in the morning” to grab a quick bite to eat. Disoriented because she was out of the country, she said she wondered, “Where am I? What country is this? I need dots.”

“So I reached over, poured some Dots into my hand and put them in my mouth. I’m chewing. [These may be] a little stale!” Goldberg hilariously recounted.

Co-host Sunny Hostin asked if he thought it might be a new flavor, but Goldberg immediately dismissed the theory.

“No no. I just poured a little more because maybe I was thinking, you know, mouth in bed. You know, because sometimes you wake up and you have something in your mouth and you’re like, ‘Who is this?'” she said. “So I poured some more. ‘Why do these taste so bad?’ My eyes finally opened a little, and in my hand was Temptations with a crab flavor!”

Although she seemed genuinely horrified to be eating cat food, Goldberg still found it in herself to make a joke.

“I just came from the Vatican and I’m eating Crabby Crab Temptations,” she joked.

Ana Navarro then threw in a stupid one-liner. “Well, that shows you that God has a sense of humor!” she joked.

“Here you are!” Goldberg concluded her story.

Harmless chaos has recently been swirling around the set of the long-running ABC talk show. Just on June 14, Alyssa Farah Griffin treated herself to cookies instead of the “gorgeous” cake the show had planned because a cast member accidentally dropped the cake on the ground. Joy Behar told her co-host that they wanted to wish her a happy birthday as soon as possible. “And we have these cookies from the Milk Bar here,” she continued. “Now, you must know that we had a great, beautiful cake for you, but the crew dropped it.”

Farah Griffin took the foul without a care. “Is that probably a metaphor?” she joked. An image of the cake is shown that has tipped over, smearing the frosting on the floor and even on a chair.
