It’s been a week since the Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA championship, but A’ja Wilson is still going strong.
While it is on Show Jennifer Hudson On Friday, the Finals MVP revealed that winning it all this year isn’t the same as winning the title last season — and that she was especially emotional when her team beat the New York Liberty.
“The first one was cool, but this second championship was different,” Wilson, 27, told Hudson.
She added: “I cried to my parents, I’m a big family girl. They sacrificed so much for me that I had them on the field with me, after we won, I cried like a baby because it was a beautiful moment.”

In the last game of the series, Wilson finished with 24 points and 16 rebounds, which solidified her choice for MVP.
“Everything we went through, fighting that adversity and being able to share that moment was something truly special,” the South Carolina student said.

Head coach and recent Hall of Fame inductee Becky Hammon, who noted her own suspension early in the season and the loss of WNBA star Candace Parker before this year’s streak, were not spared the difficulties, as significant challenges last week for ESPN.
Elsewhere in her appearance on the show, Wilson revealed that she still gets anxious before games, despite playing in the league for six seasons.

“I get super nervous, I’m pacing,” she said. “I have soda… I always say it’s good to be nervous because it means you care.”
Still, after tearfully celebrating with her parents after winning the title and MVP crown, Wilson reached for a different kind of drink after the game.
“I cried with them and went into the locker room and threw out a few bottles,” she told Hudson.
On Sunday, the South Carolina native made headlines after posting a message to Usher on social mediainviting a musician to celebrate the team’s victory.
“Hey @Usher 🤭,” Wilson wrote. “If you have nothing to do, our parade is tomorrow … if you want to skate 😁.”
In response, he published a video message on his X account on Wednesday, saying: “Say hello to the defending champions, Vegas Aces. A’ja Wilson, I got your message. I see you. I hear you.”
But Usher ultimately couldn’t make the look work.
“I couldn’t be at the parade, but I wanted to send you this to congratulate you and all the lovely ladies who – once again – did it again,” he said, praising the team.
