Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. they had an unforgettable Thanksgiving abroad.
While appearing in the Tuesday, December 10 issue Living with Kelly and Mark, Gellar (47) told how her family celebrated the holiday. She revealed they were in Australia because Prince Jr., 48, was filming I know what you did last summer restarting.
“Well, first of all, it’s warm. So that’s a plus. And we had great plans. Freddie was working and we were all going to dinner. It was supposed to be Jen [Jennifer Kaytin Robinson]director,” Gellar recalled.

“We were in a car, it was my daughter Charlotte, who is 15 years old … and Rocky and Freddie were in another car. It was raining, and it rains in Australia,” Gellar said. “But for some reason, it shut down the world.”
According to the actress, who met Prinze. Jr on the original set of the 1997 horror film, the weather caused them to be stuck in a tunnel for almost an hour.

“Tunnels don’t scare me… [but] when we came out of the tunnel, it was so late. And I said, ‘Ugh, people, I can’t even eat anymore.’ So we ordered pizza,” she said.
After host Kelly Ripa said she liked the fact that Gellar was eating pizza on Thanksgiving, Gellar said, “There’s nothing wrong with pizza.”
“They do almost everything well. Coffee is out of control in Australia,” Gellar said.

While Prinze Jr. will to return as Ray Bronson in the new reboot, which is expected to be released on July 18, 2025, Gellar told PEOPLE in October that she will not reprise her role as Helen Shivers, as her character died in the original 1997 film.

“My best friend [Jennifer Kaytin Robinson] directs, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is that I’m continuity,” she told PEOPLE. “So I’m the one who always tells her, ‘Well, it would have happened, or it wouldn’t have happened with those characters,’ so I kind of have an unofficial job title.”
