Wicked Chemistry! Inside Ethan Slater and Ariana Grande's Scenes Together 

Movie buffs can finally catch a glimpse of Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater’s relationship on the big screen.

Grande (31) and Slater (32) met during the production of a new movie musical Wicked. The “thank u, next” singer stars as Glinda, while Slater helps round out the cast as University student Shiz Boq Woodsman.

IN Wicked: Part OneGlinda and Boq communicate as soon as both characters arrive to begin their studies in Shizu. Boq, from Munchkinland, falls in love with Glinda from the first moment they meet, but she turns her attention to courting Prince Fiyer (Jonathan Bailey).

As Boq, Fiyero, Glinda, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and her sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode) meet and Boq tries to ask Glinda to dance, Glinda instead convinces Boq to woo Nessarose, serving as a matchmaker of sorts. The night out soon takes a turn as Glinda and Elphaba’s friendship takes root.

PEOPLE confirmed that Slater and Grande were dating in July 2023, about six months after production Wicked first started. This came after Grande split from ex-husband Dalton Gomez, and Slater split from his ex-wife Lilly Jay.

Grande shared a photo of Slater on her Instagram for the first time since November 3rd Wickedpremiered in Australia, and the two spoke highly of each other while promoting the film.

“He’s always wonderful, and he’s so amazing in this movie, he’s such an amazing person,” Grande said. Party tonight Slater at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles on November 9. “I’m so happy that people are getting to know him. My heart is very happy.”

Slater, meanwhile, told the newspaper that he was “so proud” of Grande’s work as Glinda in the film. “She’s amazing in this movie, and then I’m grateful to be a part of celebrating that,” he said.

Wicked: Part One it’s in theaters now, with The second part set for release on November 21, 2025.
