Woman, 19, found stabbed to death in suburban street as murder cops arrest injured suspect, 23

Police have arrested a suspect after a woman was found stabbed to death in a suburban street.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene in Croydon, south London today.

Police said the investigation is ongoing

Emergency services rushed to a residential street in Ash Tree Way at 4pm on Sunday, October 29 after the victim’s body was found.

The Metropolitan Police said: “A 19-year-old woman was found with stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The autopsy will be organized in due course.

“The woman is believed to be an Indian national who is understood to have arrived in the UK relatively recently.”

Officers said they are working to locate and notify her family members.

A homicide investigation has now been launched with a 23-year-old man suspected of having committed the murder.

The man was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital with a minor head injury.

Officers claimed the man and woman knew each other and that “no one else is wanted in connection with the homicide investigation” at this stage.

Witnesses are now being asked for any information that could help the case.

“Anyone with information that could assist the investigation, including anyone who saw or heard the disturbance on Sunday afternoon at an address in Ash Tree Way, is asked to call police on 101 quoting 4546/29oct,” police said.
