Woman Doesn't Want Sister to Bring Her Homemade Food to Thanksgiving Dinner: 'Trying to Keep the Meal Edible'

A woman says her upcoming Thanksgiving dinner is becoming a “family spectacle” after telling her sister not to bring anything homemade to the celebration – because her food is “borderline inedible”.

In a viral Reddit post, the woman writes that each member of her family usually “brings a dish or two” to Thanksgiving dinner, and her sister “insists on cooking something homemade every time.”

“Problem? She’s… not a great cook. And I don’t just mean ‘not great’ — I mean she’s somehow managed to turn classic dishes into borderline inedible creations,” the woman adds.

A woman says her wife doesn’t want to cook without a ‘tantrum’. Now they are ‘struggling’ in their marriage

He continues, “For context, last Thanksgiving, she showed up with a ‘special recipe’ stuffing that was over-seasoned with random spices like cinnamon and cardamom. It was dry, and the flavors were confusing and completely inappropriate for stuffing. Only one person she took a small bite and the rest remained untouched. coconut milk and almond flour ‘for experimentation’. Nobody wanted a second of that.”

This year, the woman writes that she wants to keep the menu “consistent” and has asked her sister not to bring food.

“I thought I’d avoid the drama if I asked her to bring non-food items instead — like wine, juice, or even some flowers,” she writes. “I explained to her (very politely, I thought) that I just wanted to keep things easy and simple, and that I would take care of the main courses. But she didn’t take it well.”

“Then she accused me of making her feel inadequate and said that Thanksgiving is about everyone contributing, not me deciding what is ‘acceptable,'” she adds. “I told her that everyone appreciated her efforts, but that she could contribute in other ways and still be a part of it. She doubled down and said she was going to bring her ‘famous’ green bean concoction whether I liked it or not.”

The sister’s mom and some other family members intervened, arguing that the sister should bring whatever she wanted, whether it was tasty or not.

“I feel like I’m just trying to keep the meal enjoyable and, frankly, edible,” the poster says. “I don’t think it’s wrong to want guests to really enjoy their food, especially since I put a lot of effort into hosting. Am I really unreasonable?”

In addition to the post, the woman writes that she tried to make a compromise with her sister, who will indeed bring something homemade.

“She allegedly said in a family group chat (which I wasn’t involved in, by the way) that I was ‘in control’ and that she wanted to ‘expand everyone’s palate’ with something ‘truly unique,'” she said. it says.

And while the poster doesn’t know what it is, her sister revealed two ingredients: canned oysters and edible glitter.

“Yes, Thanksgiving is a few weeks away, and it’s already become a family spectacle,” she adds. “I don’t know if I should prepare or just order a pizza as a precaution.”
