Yankees Fan Tries to Rip Baseball From Mookie Betts’ Glove During Game 4 of the World Series: Watch

The New York Yankees are keeping their World Series hopes alive on Tuesday, Oct. 29, but one person who didn’t help was a fan who tried to rip a baseball out of the glove of Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts.

During the bottom of the first inning of Game 4 at Yankee Stadium, Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres hit a deep foul ball to right field. Betts, 32, ran to the wall and jumped to catch it. The fan got involved though, grabbed the right outfielder’s glove and tried to get the ball away. Another fan appeared and grabbed Betts by the wrist. The ball bounced out of the glove and into the stands.

The referees wasted no time in calling the 27-year-old Torres for fan interference. A league official said The Athletic that the fan and the one sitting next to him were ejected from Yankee Stadium.

Tuesday’s Game 4 was the Yankees’ last chance to continue the World Series. The Dodgers won the first three games of the series, including Game 1 of a dramatic grand slam by Freddie Freeman.
