Meet Yann Pissenem, the incredibly inventive person behind some of Ibiza’s hottest nightclubs.

According to him, Pissenem’s move from Barcelona to Ibiza was essentially a crucial situation. “I had it. I needed a new start in life. I packed everything into my old car and made a one-way reservation. My car’s gear failed just before entering the ferry with a loud CRACK. “You really want to go?”, it seemed to me. Pissenem’s response, delivered as he was held on the docks in the sweltering heat in front of a line of honking drivers, was decisive. I declared, “I’m leaving! Not to me! I’m leaving! I put the car in first gear and gradually climbed the ramp. When we got there, I needed their help to push it through.

Pissenem is a warm and sociable person. He thinks and speaks quickly; he is passionate and full of ideas, which flow over each other like a DJ. There is a lot going on in his world and psyche. The Night League, Pissenem’s business, expanded rapidly. In 2008, it was just him and Joseph Rivas, and today he has a team of fifty.

During peak season, its clubs H Ibiza and Ushuaa Ibiza Beach Hotel employ an additional 750 employees. The venues often host some of the most famous DJs on the planet and attract visitors to party. The International Nightlife Association named H the best club in the world in 2018, with Ushuaia in second place. Both locations are ranked among the top five clubs according to DJ Magazine. Last year, an incredible 1.5 million club visitors danced at the locations, but it all started on a deserted beach.

The world is about to end.

Pissenem had been a club promoter in Barcelona for several years before his nervous ferry trip. One of his friends suggested he go to a small restaurant on Playa d’en Bossa in Ibiza after learning of his desire to start a beach club. “It was beautiful when I got there and looked around. I loved the clear blue sea and how organic it felt. However, there was nothing on that beach. Everyone shouted, “What, there?!?” with me. Nobody’s coming!’ yet I was compelled to stay when I saw it. The club was named Ushuaia in honor of Pissenem’s celebration of its remote location; Ushuaia is a city in Patagonia known as “the end of the world”.
