Yasmeen Shah began her political career in 2002 by joining the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) party. In 2002, she became a member of the Senate of Pakistan for a six-year term as a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) party.

In 2015, Yasmin quit the Pakistan Muslim League-F (PML-F) and joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Possession of fake diploma

In 2007, Fahmida Mirza, a Pakistani politician and Speaker of the 18th National Assembly of Pakistan, and her politician husband Zulfiqar Mirza submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) The petition, questioning the graduation degrees of Yasmeen Shah and her husband was awarded when nominations for the Senate elections were filed. In November 2017, the ECP found that Yasmeen held and delivered a fake Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree when she was appointed as a senator. Her senatorial qualifications were subsequently revoked and she was ordered to refund her salary and other allowances while serving in Pakistan She was paid while serving in the Senate. Subsequently, the case was transferred to Badin District Court for trial. Yasmeen has denied accusations that she submitted a false graduation degree and asked the court to reinstate her as a member of the Senate. On March 29, 2018, the Badin District Court ordered her graduate degree to be revalidated and allowed her to participate in the 2018 Pakistan general election. On February 17, 2021, District Judge Farooq Abbasi found Yasmeen guilty of allegedly possessing a fake degree and sentenced her to two years in prison and fined her Rs 50,000.
