'Yellowstone' Season 5: All About the Western's Highly-Anticipated Next Installment

The “most-watched scripted series on all of television” is returning for another season in 2021, according to CBS — and fans can’t wait to find out what’s in store for the Dutton family.

“The first episode will immediately surprise everyone – where our story begins and what happened,” said executive producer David Glasser TV Insider.

After the series’ fifth season finale aired in January 2023, fans have been waiting a long time to find out what will happen next to Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton. But after the production delay, the wait is almost over.

In May 2023, Paramount Network announced that there would be a 5th season Yellowstonefinal season and will air in November 2024. Despite scheduling conflicts with Costner and his eventual decision to leave the series, Field of dreams the star divides into Today show in June 2024 that he would be open to returning to the show “under the right circumstances.”

“I supported the cause and I loved it. It was very important to me. I would love to come back under the right circumstances. I think we all want [that]”, he said and added: “There is always a chance. I like that thing – you have to be really clear about that.”

How is it Yellowstone cut off season 4?

Beth Dutton and Rip were married in a spur-of-the-moment ceremony. Meanwhile, Kayce Dutton has returned from her spiritual journey that lasted four days and four nights.

While Paramount Network hasn’t revealed much about the second half of Season 5, Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, hinted at what fans can expect in Season 5 during an interview with Party tonightt.

“Love and family and serving your tribe, your people — that’s a big theme in the show,” he said.

Speaking specifically about his character, Grimes said Kayce “has a hard time choosing the relationship with the father over the relationship with the wife and the son.” He also noted that the show gets “all this really juicy drama” from characters “fighting for their team”.

In September 2024, Gil Birmingham, who plays Thomas Rainwater, told PEOPLE that the final episodes of the season will be an “emotional rollercoaster,” while Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton) seemed to hint that the conclusion will be worth the long wait.

“I think it’s going to be really, really exciting for people,” he said. “Because you waited a long time to see what would happen to a few things.”

When will Yellowstone season 5 air?

The 5th season has passed Yellowstonethe longest season so far — 14 episodes with a mid-season break. The first two episodes of Season 5 aired back-to-back on November 13, 2022, and were watched by more than 12 million people—a record for the series.

The actress is also joined by actress Lilli Kay as an assistant to one of the Duttons, while Dawn Olivieri, who fans may recognize from in 1883will play a corporate shark named Sarah Atwood.

The hit series should end with the 5th season. However, a sequel to the series, likely to star Matthew McConaughey, is slated to premiere in December 2023.

In February 2023. Deadline reported on Costner’s potential departure from the show. The media said that the “core of the problem” was the shooting schedule as the actor tried to balance two jobs – Yellowstone and his upcoming western film, Horizon. Sheridan was reportedly frustrated with Costner and was already negotiating to extend the franchise with McConaughey as the lead.

“I’m disappointed. It shortens the closure of his character. It doesn’t change him, but it shortens him,” Sheridan said The Hollywood Reporter in June 2023, next Costner’s decision to leave the series. “His film seems to be a big priority for him and he wants to change his focus. I hope so [the movie is] it’s worth it — and it’s good.”

In September 2023, Costner spoke about his departure from Yellowstone at a child support hearing with his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner.

“I’m told it’s a bit disappointing [it’s] the number 1 show on TV [and] I am not participating,” he said during his testimony. “I couldn’t help them anymore. We tried to negotiate, they offered me less money than in previous seasons, [and] there were problems with the creative.”

Although there was no official announcement, in August 2024. Deadline reported that negotiations are underway for a sixth season starring Reilly and Houser.
