YG Arrested on Misdemeanor DUI as Rapper's Attorney Vows to Contest Allegations

California rapper YG was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Tuesday in California.

The Burbank City Jail confirmed to PEOPLE that YG, born Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, was arrested for misdemeanor DUI on Oct. 1. TMZ first reported, and multiple newspapers cited police as reporting that the rapper was handcuffed after police discovered him standing in front of his car, which he allegedly drove over a curb.

“We’re going to challenge the charges, and they’re just that – just charges,” “Who do you love?” the rapper’s attorney Joe Tacopina told PEOPLE when reached for comment.

YG was previously arrested in 2020 just days before his performance at the Grammy Awards on robbery charges. He was also charged with a 2018 robbery in which a man was robbed of a chain at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Both cases were dismissed in 2022, and YG settled out of court with the latter victim.

On August 15, YG dropped the third part Just again mixtape series. The 19-song project featured longtime collaborator DJ Mustard, Saweetie, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty and others.
