You have the eyes of a hawk if you can spot what’s really going on with the boxes in this mind-blowing optical illusion

BECAUSE of the optical illusion thousands of internet users are scratching their heads trying to figure out what is going on.

The two continuously blinking black and white squares appear to move in various directions and even get smaller and larger in the illusion.

However, the boxes don’t actually move, despite what your eyes tell you.

A YouTuber known as PolyMathematic with over 30,000 subscribers explains how the illusion works.

Tim Ricchuiti, who runs the account, called the illusion the craziest he’s ever seen.

The illusion appears to have originated from a Twitter account with the username @Jagarikin who appears to be from Japan.

“We have two cubes, but inside the cubes are these arrows that do different things,” Tim said, adding that the arrows move back and forth, rotate, and expand in and out.

“The cube itself appears to be doing the same thing.”

However, Tim discovered that the arrows didn’t actually do anything and hid them in his video.

“You see that they are [the cubes] they continue to change in the same way as before.”

However, no matter how you look at it, the dice seem to be rolling.

To solve the illusion, Tim places cubes on a stationary grid background.

“While looking at the cube, pay attention to the grid behind it,” Tim said. “The cube does not move.”

However, the flashing lights that form the outline of the cube trick our eyes into thinking that the whole shape is moving.

“Something is definitely changing here,” Tim said. “But it’s not just movement.”

Tim’s video received over 8,000 views and several comments from people thanking him for helping them solve the illusion.

“Thanks for this. I’m an amateur magician and professional motion gfx person and this was driving me crazy.” one person wrote. “I think the frames technically move and rotate very subtly to change the shadow. I didn’t know there was any debate, but I would definitely call it an optical illusion.”

“Very nice video. Thanks for the grid demo, that was great,” another person wrote.

A third person wrote: “This is great in the best way possible – to me it means my brain goes ‘Whad the f*ck!’ and I can’t stop laughing watching it. Thanks for that!”

If you’re looking for another challenge, this optical illusion can reveal if you have a lot to accomplish or if you live a very boring life.
