WORD puzzle fans have been left scratching their heads over a tricky challenge discovered on TikTok.
Language lover BLSEEnglish has discovered a simple word and is asking users how to pronounce it.

The word in question is: Ghoti.
So how do you pronounce it?
If you said something like “goaty” or “gotty”, you are dead wrong.
You may be surprised to learn that the correct way to say it is actually… “fish.”
That’s right, “fish”.
As? Well, as the TikToker explains, it’s all about breaking words to pieces.
The first two letters, “gh”, are pronounced like “gh” in “enough”.
Then we have the “o” in the middle, it’s said like the “o” in “women.”
And at the end “you” is pronounced “shh”, as in “station”.
However, it is worth noting that Ghoti is not actually an actual word.
It’s a well-known creative rewrite designed to show some of the strange irregularities we have in the English language.
And people in the TikTok comments are split on the matter.
“Find me another word that starts with gh at the beginning and sounds like a at the end,” said one.
“There is no.”
“So the word DUH should actually be pronounced fist?” another joked.
