Zach Braff Says He and Ex Florence Pugh ‘Love Each Other a Lot’ — and She Still ‘Gives Approvals’ on His Outfits

Zach Braff says he and ex-girlfriend Florence Pugh still love each other.

Braff, 48, recently appeared on SiriusXM The Jess Cagle Show to talk about his film A good person, which starred Pugh, 27, and was released earlier this year. Braff wrote and directed the film while he and Pugh were still together. Pugh revealed in August 2022 that they had quietly split after three years of dating.

“Well, we love each other. We love each other and we’re friends, and I was on Today show this morning, and she said she wanted to see pictures of my clothes to give approval, so we really like each other,” Braff said of Pugh on the radio show.

“Look, I think it’s pretty clear around the world that I’m not biased when I say that she’s one of the best actresses working today and I think that anyone who watches A good person the opportunity will see that she is simply outstanding,” he added. “I feel so lucky to have her as my lead actress.”

IN A good person, Pugh stars as a woman named Allison, who struggles with addiction and depression after her engagement to her high school sweetheart is called off after she is involved in a car accident that kills her future sister-in-law. Allison strikes up an unlikely friendship with her future father-in-law Daniel (Morgan Freeman) while looking for help.

Braff said he wrote it A good person especially for Pugh to show off his acting skills.

“I’m in awe of her talent and I said, ‘I want to write this for Florence. What I’m writing is going to be really challenging, and she’s amazing,'” he told Party tonight in March, adding that Pugh is a “next-level actress” and “simply amazing.”

“I wanted to write something for her and I had this image in my mind of that scene in the booth and I thought of Florence Pugh opposite some legend that everybody talks about,” he said at the time.

Braff and Pugh first connected on social media and worked together on a 2019 short film In the time it takes to get there. The former couple were first spotted showing PDA during a trip to New York that year and publicly confirmed their relationship by the end of that year.

The couple appeared together on the red carpet for the promotion A good person in the spring after their breakup. Braff praised Pugh’s performance this year, which speaks volumes Vogue in January that he believed Pugh was “one of the greatest actors of his generation.”

“She’s just magnetic. You can’t take your eyes off her,” he said at the time. “And it’s not just her beauty and it’s not just her acting ability, it’s that thing, that magical thing that goes beyond the screen, where anyone and everyone goes: I want to see whatever that person does.”
