Zheng was born on October 8, 2002 in Shiyan, Hubei. Until the age of three, she lived with her maternal grandmother in Chengdu, Sichuan, her mother’s hometown.
Zheng started playing tennis at the age of seven. Two months later, eight-year-old Zheng left her home in Shiyan to train in Wuhan. About three years later, she moved to Beijing to train with Carlos Rodriguez, the longtime coach of Zheng’s hero Li Na, before moving to Barcelona with her mother in 2019.[3][4] She started training with coach Pera Riba in 2021.
