10th, 12th HP BOSE Board Exams: Himachal Pradesh State Board of School Education (HPBOSE) approved the re-establishment of the annual assessment system for 10th and 12th grade students, CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu approved on Sunday, June 25, 2023, the report said.
This system will allow students in grades 10 and 12 to take the exam once a year. Before that, board exams were conducted twice in a school year. The minister is said to have said that the terminology system is not beneficial to the students as they have less time to revise their syllabus as they have to take two exams.
The testing and assessment process requires a significant amount of time to complete, thus placing a financial burden on students. He also added that they are obligated to pay for the exams twice.
Annual assessment system for 10th and 12th grade students
Several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, as well as the Central Board of Examinations (CBSE) follow an annual review system. Taking all these factors into account, a decision has been made to end the term system and restore the annual system in Himachal Pradesh, the reports said.
Himachal Pradesh is geographically diverse and has different school days due to different holiday patterns depending on weather conditions in different regions, the statement said. Furthermore, the state government is actively working to improve the system in various areas to provide students with quality and accessible education, he added.
