6 Injured by American Airlines Flight’s Hard Landing at Kahului Airport in Hawaii

Five flight attendants and one passenger were injured after an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Maui made a hard landing around 2 p.m. local time on Saturday.

In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, American Airlines said, “American Airlines Flight 271 from Los Angeles (LAX) to Maui (OGG) experienced problems while landing at OGG. The aircraft taxied to the exit under its own power, and customers were unloaded normally, regularly.”

Six injured people were transported to a local hospital, where they were released home. There were a total of 167 passengers and seven crew members on the flight.
