One day, when mother-to-be Carly Cox came home from the grocery store, she was surprised to see her little one showing a lot of interest in her groceries.
She quickly discovered that it was a pack of strawberries singing their siren song in Remus’ ear.
For some reason, the 10-year-old kitten seems completely mesmerized by the box of succulent red berries.
Not sure if strawberries are safe for cats, Cox took the box and called his sister, who happens to be a veterinarian.
Cox’s sister says it’s perfectly normal for Remu to play with strawberries, so Cox returns the box to the boy.
When he received the box of strawberries, Remus was overjoyed. But it wasn’t a sudden craving for something sweet and fruity that drew Remus to the berries; He doesn’t seem to like eating them.
Instead, he just wanted to rub them and throw them in the air like little toys. Now strawberries have become his obsession and he loves them more than any other toy.
He would rub with them and play with them all day, and when he was tired, he would snuggle up with them and sleep with them.
Having a pack of strawberries as a protective blanket may seem odd, but there may be a scientific explanation behind Remus’ odd choice of bedmate; some people theorize that strawberry and catnip are distant cousins!
