A man gives up everything he has to save stray dogs

They needed a hero, but instead they found a superhero! Takis Proestakis lives in Crete, Greece. He changed his life inside and out to help those in need.

When the catastrophic financial crisis hit Greece, many affected families abandoned their dogs because they could not afford to take care of them. Many of these animals ended up in a common landfill.

Takis, the nightclub owner, has no idea what’s going on. Until one day, when he went to the dump to clean up unwanted trash, he noticed a pack of dogs.

The dogs were malnourished and spoiled. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Your heart is broken! How will he help these poor animals?

A kind person could not abandon such a pack of dogs. So he took them all home one by one.

He brought home so many dogs that he had to move and buy a large plot of land in an olive grove. He wants the dogs to have enough space to run and he wants to save as many dogs as possible.

So he liquidated his business, bought a large shipping container, and made it his home and treatment for the most injured pets. It can easily take care of 300 dogs at once!

Taking care of pets becomes Takis’ full-time job. Takis is forced to sell all his possessions to pay for his family’s growing medical and food obligations. However, the fund ran out.

He was almost forced to close the door, but a miracle happened. Takis was interviewed by a local journalist about a selfless man. As a result, his story spread like wildfire. Contributions come from all over the world!

Takis is in charge of rehabilitation for dogs. He put them up for adoption when they got better. He was sad to see them gone, but realized that they deserved the personal attention that only a home for a lifetime can provide.

Takis has saved at least 500 dogs so far. And he intends to save many, many more. Takis said succinctly: “This is not a job.” This is a compelling reason to live.”

The dogs need a hero. Instead, they have a superhero!
