Adam Sandler’s 2 Kids: All About Sadie and Sunny

Adam Sandler is the girl’s dad.

The actor and his wife Jackie Sandler first became parents in 2006 with the arrival of Sadie.

“[Fatherhood’s] fun. It’s great,” he said shortly after his first daughter was born. “I love that baby … I’ve been dying to do it.”

Sadie’s younger sister, Sunny, joined the family in late 2008, and since then the Sandlers have kept a low profile when it comes to their home life.

“I’m most happy about my children, but there are life adjustments,” Adam said HuffPost in 2018. “I don’t go out to meet anyone after 9:30 at night. I have dinner at 6 or 7. If someone makes me stay out until 10:30 at night, I’m angry the whole next day because I’m exhausted.”

Sadie and Sunny have appeared in several of their father’s films over the years, including his 2020 Netflix film. Hubie Halloween. But it wasn’t until 2023 that they got the main roles.

Netflix’s You are not invited to my Bat Mitzvah follows seventh grader Stacy (Sunny) as she plans her dream bat mitzvah amid a rift with her best friend, while her mom (Idina Menzel) and sister (Sadie’s real-life siblings) encourage her to reconcile. To round out the family affair, the film also stars Adam as Stacy’s father and Jackie as a woman named Gabi.

As an A-list actor in Hollywood, Adam can get tickets to almost anything. In October 2023, he took his daughters to the premiere of Taylor Swift’s concert film in Los Angeles, and after the screening, the pop star took a photo with Sadie and Sunny.

From their early years out of the spotlight to their starring roles on Netflix, here’s everything you need to know about Adam and Jackie Sandler’s two daughters, Sadie and Sunny.

Sadie Sandler, 17

Adam and Jackie welcomed their first daughter, Sadie Madison Sandler, on May 6, 2006. Shortly after her arrival, the comedian joked with reporters about his newborn’s lack of focus. “Every time I think a kid likes me [while I’m playing with and talking to her]”I’m like, ‘Oh, she’s staring at my forehead,'” he snapped.

When Sadie was 14 months old, her dad told Jay Leno Tonight’s show that he “removed” Jackie from the place of the girl’s favorite person. “We’re very close with that kid — everything we do is about the kid, and now the kid is all about me. It’s been my wife the whole time, and then for the last month or two, it’s all Sandler. It’s like everything I do, the kid wants,” he joked.

When she was young, Sadie began accompanying her father on set, and made her first screen appearance in his 2008 film. Don’t mess with Zohan. In the same year, she had a small role in Adam’s film Bedtime stories, in which the actor plays an uncle whose bedtime stories cause trouble for his niece and nephew. While promoting the film, Adam admitted that the plot hit a little closer to home, as his nightly bedtime story ritual often backfired on Sadie.

“I’m not good at bedtime stories,” he said. “Bedtime stories should lull a child to sleep, [but] my child gets angry.”

Sadie’s bedtime routine was once again a topic of conversation for her father during an appearance on the show in 2008. Living with Regis and Kellywhere the actor revealed that it was she who told him that he would soon become a father of two children.

“I came home at night and [Jackie] he kept saying ‘Sadie wants to give you a present,’ and Sadie usually falls asleep around 8. It was like 3 to 9 and I just got home from work,” he recalled.

“And then Sadie gave me some little thing, as a gift. And I said: ‘Oh, that’s nice Sadie, thank you.’ And then Jackie kept saying ‘Open, open.’ And I opened it and it was one of those pregnancies [tests] and I was like ‘Wowwww.’ ”

In 2019, Adam spoke about watching Sadie grow up, telling Ellen DeGeneres that it was hard to listen to his almost teenage daughter talk about boys.

“You know, I drive around with [her and] her friends and I now hear them talking about boys… it’s amazing how I felt about the same boys five years ago. If they mentioned the kid’s name, I’d say, ‘I love that kid.’ Now I’m getting really nervous,” he joked.

When it came time for Sadie’s 2019 bat mitzvah, Adam pulled some serious strings to make his daughter’s big day extra memorable, including arranging a special performance by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.

Adam explained further Jimmy Kimmel Live that he asked Levine via text, saying, “I text him, ‘I’m sorry to do this to you, my kid has a bat mitzvah on Saturday night. Could you come and sing a few songs? That would be amazing.’ ”

Levine agreed and brought fellow Maroon 5 member James Valentine to play a few hits at the party. “That was the best thing, man,” Adam told Kimmel. As for Sadie’s reaction to the performance? “Oh, she hugged me so, my Sadie,” he said.

In February 2024, Sadie joined her parents at an NBA game. The trio sat courtside as they watched the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Denver Nuggets.

Sunny Sandler, 15

Adam and Jackie welcomed their second daughter, Sunny Madeline Sandler, on November 2, 2008. Adam announced Sunny’s birth on his website, calling the family’s latest addition “beautiful” and adding that “everyone is happy and healthy.”

Like her elder sister, Sunny appeared in several of her father’s films including Adults, Mixed and A murder mystery. However, after racking up more than a dozen acting credits from Adam’s projects, it seems both Sunny and Sadie are ready to strike out on their own.

“Sometimes I hear in the house, ‘I want to be in a movie,’ and I say, ‘You did, you were in this, this, and this,’ and they say, ‘It’s not yours.’ I say, ‘Oh, daddy’s not good enough!’ Adam continued The Drew Barrymore Show. “They want to do their own thing one day.”

Apart from acting roles, Sunny also likes singing. In June 2019, she performed a song from The greatest showman on stage during one of Adam’s comedies. After a sweet introduction from her father, Sunny sang “A Million Dreams”, earning huge applause and a standing ovation from the crowd.

Sunny joined her father on stage again that October during a benefit performance, where she and Sadie joined Adam in singing Taylor Swift’s “Lover,” which the comedian described as “one of their favorite songs.”

“We’re going to sing a song! They were so excited and nervous, but we’re going to sing a song,” Adam told the audience. “They saw Taylor Swift last night, we were on Saturday night live. It was a big night, man. Taylor Swift — oh my God —.”

After the girls gave a standing ovation, Adam thanked the crowd for “being so good to them”, adding: “They were dying to be a part of it. You girls were amazing! It sounded great – confident and cool. I love you, now get out of here.”

For Sunny’s bat mitzvah in May 2022, Adam once again turned to his celebrity friends to make the party extra special. The star-studded party was attended by his previous co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Lautner, with performances by Charlie Puth and Halsey.

Halsey later discussed the party during an appearance on Tonight’s show. “First of all, it was the craziest bat mitzvah I’ve ever seen,” the singer told Jimmy Fallon. “As you would expect from Adam Sandler. It was like… I mean, it was like Coachella.”

Sunny was seemingly happy with the party’s A-list guest list – and the attention that came with it. After a TikTok user shared a video of the party, which showed several celebrity attendees posing with a giant packet of Smarties, Sunny summed up the event with a one-liner comment: “Viral.”

A few months later, Sunny and her sister had another viral moment when their father accepted the Film Tribute Award at the 2022 Gotham Awards. Instead of going the traditional route, he let his daughters write his acceptance speech.

“They were like, ‘Can we write your speech so you have something to say?’ I said, ‘Absolutely! It would be nice to see you doing something other than watching YouTube or going to freaking Lululemon every freaking weekend,'” Adam teased on stage before going on to read a speech his girlfriends had prepared for him, and which included several hilarious jabs at their father.

The proud dad ended his speech on a sentimental note, thanking his wife and daughters for being a part of his journey.
