Adele Reveals The Iron Claw Was Her 'Favorite Movie of the Year': 'So Blown Away by Zac Efron'

Efron re-shared A24’s Instagram post in which Adele revealed that ‘Iron Claw’ is her “favorite movie” of 2023.

On Sunday, the 36-year-old actor re-shared A24’s Instagram post in which Adele revealed that iron claw, which was released last month, was her favorite movie of the year.

“So obviously there’s a bunch of great movies out there, but if you haven’t seen them, Iron Claw was my favorite movie of the year,” the 35-year-old 16-time Grammy winner said on stage as she addressed the crowd.

“I don’t know if many of you saw it. It’s about a very famous American wrestling family,” continued Adele.

“Maestro it was freaking awesome. They were all amazing,” the singer added while acknowledging other films that were released in 2023. “I was so blown away by Zac Efron in [The Iron Claw], and at the end I cried for two hours. My favorite movie of the year is Iron Claw.”

Efron stars as Kevin Von Erich in the film, which follows “the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who have made a major impact on the sport from the 1960s to today,” according to its official tagline.

Five of the six brothers in the Von Erich family suffered a series of accidents and deaths that became known as the “Von Erich Curse”. Kevin, who is now 66 years old, is the only brother in Iron Claw a film that is still alive today.

Kevin joked to PEOPLE at the film’s world premiere in Dallas in November 2023 that Efron “had a tough job. It’s not easy being me.”

An actor playing a wrestler with decades of experience means “a lot to cram into a movie,” he added, but Efron “was able to do it … he’s a real star.”

With Efron, the movie stars Holt McCallany as patriarch Fritz Von Erich, plus Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich, Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich and Stanley Simons as Mike Von Erich.

Iron Claw it’s in theaters now.
