When Adele saw her idol sitting in the audience of a recent fashion show, many emotions and memories came back to the singer.
On Saturday, October 26, Adele, 36, shared an emotional moment with Céline Dion after seeing her in the audience at her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. In a video posted on X, Adele broke down in tears as she approached Dion, 56, and the two shared a heartfelt hug.
In a later post on X, Adele explained why the moment was so special to her.
“I’ve been performing in the Celine Dion Room at the Colosseum for almost 2 years now,” Adele wrote. “It was the only venue I wanted to play in Vegas because it was built for her. I have a picture of her right next to the stage that I touch every night before I go by and she came to the show this weekend and it was a surprise and it was a MOMENT !!”
The venue was built in 2003 to house Dion’s New day… residencies and has since attracted residencies and performances by Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Diana Ross and more.

“Celine, I love you so much,” Adele continued. “Words can never sum up what you mean to me, or what your coming to my show means, let alone how it felt to see you back in your palace with your beautiful family… Such a full circle moment for me to be there with you. A lot thank you.”
In 2018, Adele visited the “My Heart Will Go On” singer backstage at the Colosseum for her second residency. In a post shared on Instagram after their meeting, Adele wrote: “Queen Celine! What a show, the absolute highlight of my life, thank you so much for your attention to your audience and crazy humour. Happy New Year Mrs x.”
Dion also recently showed her love for Kelly Clarkson after american idol alum covered “My Heart Will Go On” on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“Kelly, when I got back from the Olympics, I got to watch and listen to your reaction to my performance on the Eiffel Tower,” Dion said in an Instagram Reel. “It was so sweet to hear you—your voice. Your voice was breaking and it touched me so much. You cried and then you made me cry. What’s with all this damn crying?”
I just saw you sing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and I’m crying again,’ she continued. “You were absolutely amazing, fantastic. I loved it so much. I hope we can see each other live soon, very soon. And I hope we don’t start crying. I love you so much.”

Clarkson responded with her own full-circle moment, explaining that Dion’s endorsement made up for the “bad” american idol the performance she performed in 2002.
“22 years ago american idol, I got laryngitis,” Clarkson explained. “Everybody got sick for a week because they made us rough. They had no idea the show was going to blow up.”
“The week I had laryngitis… I had to sing Celine Dion’s ‘I Surrender All.’ I screamed that night because I was horrified that Céline Dion was going to see this show,” she continued. “Then I could care less about votes.”
