From her love of soccer to her obsession with makeup, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham’s daughter, Harper Seven Beckham, seems to love both of her parents.

The couple first met at a football game in 1997 and married two years later in July 1999. They had three sons together – Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz – before their only daughter, Harper, was born on July 10, 2011.

In an interview with May 2017 Elle UKVictoria reflected on letting her children “figure out what their passions are” and teaching Harper to value more than her looks.

“I think you need to strike the right balance, not suffocate them and then end up with a child who rebels,” she said. “I tell her, ‘Harper, it doesn’t matter who is the prettiest girl in the class, it doesn’t even matter who is the smartest girl in the class, but who is the hottest and hardest working girl in the class.’ I don’t like her to focus too much on her appearance.”

Although David and Victoria are protective of their daughter, as a family they do not shy away from public appearances. Harper is often seen at fashion designer shows and often appears on her parents’ social media profiles.

In July 2024, Victoria posted a sweet tribute on Instagram to celebrate Harper’s 13th birthday. “You are sweet and kind and your smile warms our hearts every day. You are truly our everything Harper Seven and we are so proud of the happy, beautiful, talented young lady you are becoming,” she wrote.

David and Victoria welcomed their daughter Harper Seven on July 10, 2011 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She weighed 7 lbs., 10 oz.

The footballer revealed they were expecting a girl six months ago, saying at a lunch for LA Galaxy fans: “Obviously we’re very happy to be expecting them again, and this is the first time I’m going to say it: It’s a girl.”

He continued: “We are still in shock. Obviously, when you have three boys, you kind of expect another one, so it’s surprising to find out there’s a little girl inside, but obviously we’re done. Our three boys are happy and excited and Victoria is fine.”

Her name has a special meaning

Harper’s full name is Harper Seven Beckham, which has special connections with each of her parents. The couple liked that Harper was an old English name and seven was David’s shirt number when he played for Manchester United.

Shortly after Harper was born, David revealed the deeper meaning behind his daughter’s name in a Facebook video. “Victoria’s favorite book is To kill a mockingbirdit’s a very powerful, passionate book, and the author was Harper Lee, and that’s where Harper came from,” he said.

David added: “The main reason behind seven was that it symbolizes spiritual perfection – the seven wonders of the world, the seven colors of the rainbow – and in many cultures it is a lucky number. We love the name and we love Harper Seven. We are very lucky to have her in our lives and in our family, and this is an incredible time for our family right now.”

Her parents protect her privacy

Although Harper appears on her parents’ social media accounts, she does not have a public profile of her own. Talking to Vogue Australia in July 2022, Victoria spoke out about body shaming on social media and her worries about how it might affect her daughter one day.

“Harper’s not on social media, so we don’t have to worry about that yet,” she said. “But considering how cruel people can be, yes, it really is [concern me].”

Victoria added that Harper is “at an age where her body is going to start changing, but it’s about us communicating a lot as a family and her surrounding herself with dear friends. But it’s pretty scary, I can’t lie.”

During the interview with The Telegraph in June 2014, David also shared his concerns about protecting Harper and the rest of his children from public scrutiny.

“Their upbringing is a lot different than my upbringing so I think there’s always kind of a fear factor… I mean, the first day you have kids, you’re always worried,” he said. “It’s the most beautiful thing in the world, but you’re bringing children into a world where you have to really protect them. They are very privileged and have a beautiful life, and I want to protect that and protect them from everything that happens outside the family.”

Her godmother is Eva Longoria

In addition to her two famous parents, Harper counts actress Eva Longoria and musician Marc Anthony as godparents. Victoria revealed the news on Instagram in December 2019 when she posted photos from Harper’s christening, including a photo of the then eight-year-old with all her godparents.

“I could not be more proud of my children and grateful to my family, and the most wonderful godparents??. We love you @evalongoria @kenpaves @marcanthony @davidgardner x kiss,” Victoria wrote in the caption.

Longoria reposted the photo and said, “What an honor to be godfather to the cutest little girl in the world! I love you #HarperSeven 💕💕💕.”

Since then, the couple has maintained a close relationship. The Housewives actress posted a sweet birthday tribute for her godson’s 11th birthday in July 2022, and Harper celebrated the release of Longoria’s directorial debut, Flamin’ Hot, in June 2023, cooking burritos with his dad.

She loves makeup

Harper takes after her mom when it comes to her love of makeup and fashion. In an interview with March 2023 TimeVictoria revealed that her daughter is “obsessed with make-up”.

While the designer also shared that Harper isn’t allowed to wear makeup outside of the house yet, Victoria said she’s “been able to do a full face and contour for a while. She’s good at doing it very naturally.”

“I’m going to Space NK [a British beauty retailer] is her favorite after school treat. If she passes the test well, I’ll take her to the one down the street — that’s her favorite thing. She’s obsessed,” added Victoria.

Harper has played Victoria’s makeup artist several times, but she’s also practiced her skills on her dad. In July 2023, the retired soccer player shared a photo of his daughter contouring under his eyes.

“Daddy obviously needed some powder and contouring (not sure what that means but I looked better than ever) my little makeup artist @victoriabeckham,” he wrote in the caption.

She is a football fan

Although Harper inherited Victoria’s love of fashion, she also adopted David’s passion for football. In an interview with S. in September 2018 Voguethe designer shared that her daughter “has been able to run in Alaïa platforms since she was 3,” but she also has a sporty side.

“On the one hand she’s quite girly, but on the other hand she has three big brothers and loves to run around and play football,” said Victoria. “She’s not afraid of being pushed.”

She often attends soccer matches with her family, and in August 2023, she walked onto the field with Lionel Messi at an Inter Miami match (David is a co-owner of the team). Victoria shared a photo of Harper and Messi from the game on Instagram with the caption: “Another big win last night in Miami!!! Special moment for Harper waking up to @leomessi kiss xxxx Victoria.”

She is Victoria’s fashion muse

Victoria’s entire family is always ready for her shows, but Harper holds the title of fashion muse. In January 2023, the designer posted a cute mother-daughter selfie on Instagram and shared how she designed the blue ombre dress the teenager was wearing in the photo.

“My number one #VBMuse #HarperSeven! Mom loved creating this dress for you 💙,” she said in the description.

Victoria has created special pieces for Harper before, including the purple floral mask and dress she wore for the digital launch of her mom’s Spring Summer 2021 collection. The designer also used Harper as her muse for her Victoria Beckham for Target collection in 2017.

“The Victoria Beckham for Target collection reflects the essence of my Victoria, Victoria Beckham line, which is a category within my brand that I was inspired to create when I was pregnant with Harper,” she told PEOPLE. “Since the VVB line and Harper turned 5 last year, it seemed like the perfect time to celebrate both milestones.”

She added that “it’s a dream come true to design pieces that Harper can wear! I love every piece of this collection!”

He spends a lot of time with his parents

Aside from family vacations, Harper spends a lot of alone time with each of her parents.

Victoria and Harper often enjoy quality time together with mother-daughter days at the spa and working out. David and Harper cook together and even attend concerts, including The Weeknd’s performance in Miami in August 2022.

David shared videos from the concert of him and Harper singing along with the caption: “Awkward dad moment 😂 the timing was a little off but we finally made it and I made Harper Seven laugh 😂 @theweeknd WOW what a show #Miami 💜 THAT SMILE 😊.”

Harper also hangs out with some of her parents’ famous friends and their kids. She went on a daddy-daughter double date with Tom Brady and his daughter Vivian in January 2023, and also bonded with Drew Barrymore’s daughters Frankie and Olive.

During the episode The Drew Barrymore Show in October 2022, the talk show host and Victoria discussed their daughters’ chance encounter while Barrymore was filming a movie in London.

“One day, my daughter went to the park, and you know, we didn’t know anyone there, and she made a friend,” Barrymore said. “I was so excited that she made a friend… and it turns out to be your daughter, Harper.”

Victoria replied, “Harper really enjoyed meeting your girls.”
