All About Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert’s 2 Kids

Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert are still “a damn good team” after deciding to end their seven-year marriage.

The “Bare Wit Me” singer filed for divorce in January 2023, but waited about nine months to announce the couple was separating. On Instagram, Taylor assured her followers that she and Shumpert are still “best friends” and are successfully raising their two daughters, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., 7, and Rue Rose Shumpert, 3.

“Most importantly, we are FAMILY and in 10 years together, 7 years married, we have never played with or about THAT,” she said.

Taylor and Shumpert have created many special memories with their daughters over the years, including posing for the cover Ebony magazine and modeling for Skims’ Cozy Collection.

They were also on TV. The family starred on VH1 Teyana and Iman in 2018 and E!’s We Got Love Teyana & Iman in early 2021. Before their E! premiered the show, Taylor said Maxim that the series helped them document some of the most precious family moments. “My baby, Rue, caught her first crawl on camera. And Junie, her first day back at school,” she said.

“On December 16th at 6:42am in our bathroom, Junie decided she wanted to take her first breath into this world. She came out as a wonderful surprise for everyone!” Taylor said. In his own post, Shumpert shared a photo of himself with the newborn, writing, “Our beautiful daughter is finally here and doing well with her beautiful mother.”

Taylor and Shumpert married when Junie was almost 10 months old. After the wedding, Taylor shared a photo of the trio on Instagram in which Taylor and Shumpert wore jackets that read “I Do” and “I Do Too,” and their daughter wore one that read “Oh! Me Too.”

For Junie’s first birthday two months later, Taylor shared a tribute to her daughter on Instagram. – Your love touched my heart and changed my life forever – the singer wrote.

In the 2017 interview GQ, Taylor and Shumpert shared that Junie was a fan of Chuck E. Cheese. “Junie will eat more pizza than us,” Shumpert joked, describing a typical night at the family restaurant. “She’ll throw things. She’ll go over to other people’s desks and try to take things… As soon as she gets home, she just passes out because she’s put too much energy into whatever she’s doing. But she loves it. She loves anything that’s going on a lot. Like she loves basketball. She comes to the game. She stares at the Jumbotron. She knows when to stand up and clap.”

After Taylor became pregnant with Junie’s little sister Rue, the singer told PEOPLE that Junie was excited to be a big sister. She constantly kisses my stomach, constantly talks to the baby, she said. “Even when we go to the store, she says, ‘Okay, mom, this is for the baby.’ She is so ready. She’s going to be such a great big sister.”

Taylor and Shumpert’s younger daughter, Rue Rose Shumpert, was born on September 6, 2020. Just like her older sister, Rue arrived early and was born in the family bathroom — just one day after Taylor’s baby was born.

The former Cleveland Cavalier announced Rue’s arrival on Instagram, writing, “Hello baby. Little sister. Another daughter. Black love wins…again. Welcome baby girl…we love you!”

Taylor initially announced her pregnancy in June 2020 via the music video for her song “Wake Up Love”. In the video, she kisses her husband and Junie before lifting her top to reveal her baby bump. While pregnant, Taylor also appeared on the cover CR fashion book.
