The holiday spirit is always in the air for the guests of the inn at Christmas Place!
A Bavarian-style hotel nestled amidst the Great Smoky Mountains in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. it’s open in full Christmas decor 365 days a year, although it’s most magical from October to December when the Christmas spirit is at its peak.
The Christmas spirit comes alive in the hotel’s two lobbies, decorated with wreaths, garlands, twinkling lights and bows,
“Because we have so many repeat customers, the Christmas decor in the public areas and guest rooms changes every year,” Victoria Jones, granddaughter of the inn’s founder, tells PEOPLE.

“The upper lobby is traditional and religious with nativity scenes and angels, while the lower lobby is more secular and whimsical with our glockenspiel playing Christmas carols every hour from 9am to 9pm.”

The hotel recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, including a fully renovated courtyard and lagoon-style pool with a lazy river, a beach-style entrance and a large dock with waterfall views. The spectacular scene was created by Lucas Lagoons from Animal Planet Insane Pools: Off the Deep End.

“Since the lagoon area has just been completed, we don’t yet know how many brave souls will want to swim in the winter,” says Jones. (The inn also has an indoor pool and hot tub.)
“We will heat the space from March to October every year, and at Christmas time we will offer guests an open space to sit, visit and use the fireplace.” Twenty foot snowflake lights will add to the magic.

For the ultimate in holiday cheer, families or couples can book the inn’s private Santa Suite, which comes complete with a pair of fully decorated trees, a Santa chair, a fireplace with a decorated mantel and a fully equipped kitchen for a home-away-from-home. – home atmosphere.

Each of the regular guest rooms is decorated with Christmas colors on bedspreads, wreaths, “Silent Night” pillows, a three-foot tree and pictures of snowy scenes.
When the Jones family opened the inn in 2007, the decor was much more subtle. “We were shocked at how many people wanted Christmas all year,” says Jones, “and we still put on a big Christmas in July celebration.”

For the upcoming holiday season, guests have a festive list of activities to enjoy during their stay: building gingerbread houses, decorating cookies, watching magic shows and catching live “Singing Santas” concerts several nights a week.
They can also bake s’mores, enjoy Christmas cookies and participate in a scavenger hunt where goodies are hidden on all five floors of the inn.

For the little ones, there are Christmas-themed visits on five mornings a week at 9am. From March to December they hang out outside the door while guests enjoy breakfast from 7am to 10am

For the Joneses, the Christmas spirit includes giving to family, friends and those in need, and the spirit of happiness, rediscovery and hope for the future.
“The holiday season makes us all feel like kids again,” says Jones. “It brings magic to life.”
Limited bookings are still available for the 2024 Christmas season, with bookings for 2025 opening in December.
