Benayoum began her pageant journey in August 2020 by participating in the Miss Aix Region 2020 competition. Her victory in this event paved the way for her to compete in the Miss Provence 2020 competition later that year. In the Miss France 2021 competition, Benayoum reached the finals, first advancing to the top fifteen and finally to the top five. After the champion Amandine Petit, the runner-up position was obtained. Benayoum receives this honor for the second consecutive year as representative of Provence.

In October 2021, Sylvie Tellier and the Miss France Committee named Benayoume Miss World France 2021. This gave her the honor of representing France in the Miss World 2021 competition. This decision was taken due to the fact that Amandine Petit was unable to participate due to her commitment to participate in the Miss France 2022 election and to crown her successor. Meanwhile, Miss France 2020 Clémence Botino will represent the country at Miss Universe 2021 during the same period. Only 40 contestants were invited to the Miss World 2021 competition in March. Benayoum was one of them and managed to reach the top 13 in the finals.

Targets of anti-Semitic rhetoric
Following the Miss France competition, Benayoum, who is of Israeli descent, faced a flood of anti-Semitic comments on social media after sharing her Israeli heritage during the competition. Disturbing comments such as “Hitler forgot this” and “Don’t vote for a Jew” emerged. The incident attracted widespread media attention in France. Seven people were found guilty of making comments online about Benayoum’s background. Many figures have spoken out against this prejudice, including Amandine Petit and French politicians Eric Ciotti, Christian Estrosi, Renault Muselier and Gerald Dama rather. Marlène Schiappa launched legal proceedings against those responsible for the attacks, resulting in eight people facing charges for anti-Semitic remarks directed at Benayoum.
