Hence, the South Indian Film Artists Association (SIFAA) issued a statement warning celebrities not to attend the IIFA in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Asin has been warned to quit her film Ready as the shooting of the film was scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka. However, due to her professional commitments, Asin decided to continue her filming. As a result, it was announced that she would not be allowed to shoot in Tamil Nadu and was unofficially blacklisted from South Indian films. She said in an interview,
Cricketers go there and no one objects, businessmen go there and no one protests, tourists go there and no one criticizes but only actors are punished for going to Sri Lanka. Instead of boycotting Sri Lanka, more people from the Tamil Nadu film industry should visit Sri Lanka to express solidarity with the people.”
