I am in Class 8 and he is in Class 10. Even my parents know about it. But when I rejected his offer, he stopped talking to me. Later, when I was injured, he started talking to me again. His concern for me during that difficult phase was what attracted me to him. He continued to propose, but I took my time. Eventually, he stopped answering my calls and started hanging out with other girls, which honestly made me jealous (laughs). When I graduated, I finally accepted his proposal. “

  • In 2011, he suffered a serious back injury, and doctors detected degeneration of Soumis’ spine. Doctors advised him to stay in bed for three weeks. In an interview, he said about this incident,

It was 2010-2011 and I was among the top 5 Indian players in men’s singles. One day I felt discomfort in my back and it turned out to be air bubble spaces in the bones of my spinal cord. I was told to quit sports. I consulted about 10 doctors but no one could give me a solution. I was bedridden for about 20 days. I had to be helped even to go to the bathroom, and I was worried that my lower body would be paralyzed, but I was not ready to give up. After a few weeks, I started trying a few things. Every day I try a new approach. I tried Ayurveda and everything possible and slowly found a way. Eventually, rehab, exercise and following a strict regime helped. I had to give up singles, but after three or four years, I felt like I was getting better. “
