Bachelor in Paradise alum Romeo Alexander is engaged!
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Alexander and his fiancee Caroline Sullivan revealed all the sweet details of the proposal, which took place on December 27 in New York.
“I was completely shocked!” says Sullivan. “Romeo told me that we were going to dinner at a nice restaurant near Central Park and that I had to wear something fancy. My sister was in town leaving that day, so he suggested we show her around the park before dinner. When we got to the venue, this amazing photographer (Sarah) was pretending to take photos and generously asked us if we wanted a picture! Then he got down on one knee. It was perfect.”

In pictures shared on Instagram in December, Sullivan was overcome with emotion as Alexander got down on one knee. Another black and white photo shows Sullivan covering his mouth in shock as Alexander opens the ring box.
“I was sure Caroline already had it figured out, but I knew I had to keep doing what I could to confuse her to keep the element of surprise,” Alexander tells PEOPLE.
“I took Caroline to 5th Avenue as she had never seen it during the holidays and I think that’s when New York is the most beautiful,” he adds. “I took her to a few shops to get a feel for her style and ring size, but ended up buying it from a friend in the diamond district (shout out to David at Doppelt Diamonds!).”
Adds Sullivan, “I’ve always loved emerald cut rings! Romeo knew that because my sister was secretly helping him. One night we made a spontaneous stop at Tiffany’s just to be formal, and that’s how he got my ring size.”
A look back at Spice Girls wedding photos
Alexander and Sullivan first met at Dumbo House in Brooklyn in February 2022. “I was just walking in when he was leaving,” Sullivan tells PEOPLE. “We talked for a few minutes at the coat inspection, but never exchanged information.”
Alexander tells PEOPLE he wanted to go out for a quick dinner, but the Soho House property was “overbooked,” so he asked Sullivan if he knew of anywhere else nearby to grab a bite to eat.
“I actually left by walking away, but I turned around when I was halfway down and came back to talk to her some more,” he explains.
Sullivan revealed that after meeting Alexander, she had a feeling he was “the one.” That same night, she texted her girlfriends: “I just met my husband.”
He returned 15 minutes later and the pair “danced the night away” before Sullivan traveled to England the next day. Two weeks later, they went on their first official date.
“We were having a drink at a nice place, Gair,” recalls Sullivan. “We decided to continue the night and look for dinner, where we shared a steak. We didn’t want the night to end, so we went to another sports bar nearby and talked for another 3 hours!
A few weeks later the pair “randomly bumped into each other at a techno concert” and their relationship kicked into high gear.
“I love how loyal Romeo is and how much he values his family and his close friends,” says Sullivan. “He’s sensitive and has the biggest heart. He’s also the smartest person I know and the most fun dance partner!”
As for the wedding plans, the couple is slowly starting to realize them.
“We started thinking about a Paris wedding in early 2025 and are looking for a wedding planner,” says Sullivan. “We have so many great memories together in France, with his family. Romeo is half French so it just seems right to have the wedding there! I haven’t even started thinking about the details yet, but I know it’s going to be a big wedding!”
