“I hold this exhibition so near and dear because it showcases the breadth and nuance of what spiritual and praise and worship music can be, and I feel so committed to all the moments these works have found me in both my darkest moments and my greatest moments of joy,” Solange wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday, October 13. “I feel closest to myself when I feel closest to God, and music is the path that opens all the doors of the divine for meee.”

According to the event’s website, the program featured “both contemporary and historical innovators whose work has profoundly influenced music and the performing arts.”
