Blac Chyna Celebrates 1 Year, 4 Months Sober: ‘I’m Going for the 2’

Blac Chyna is celebrating 16 months of sobriety and the countdown is on.

On Sunday, the TV personality – who now goes by her birth name Angela White – posted a video on Instagram after reaching the milestone, returning home to surprise her boyfriend, songwriter and rapper Derrick Milan.

Milano laid out sticky notes for each month of sobriety, pairing each with a handwritten motivational message. He also included a custom cake and balloons for it.

“I just walked into the house and looked at what Derrick had prepared for me. He put all these special notes for me for all the months of my sobriety,” White, 35, said as she made the sweet gesture. “Today marks 1 year and 4 months of my sobriety. Sixteen months…ah!! I’m going for two.”

White also posted a photo of the moment she called her once-estranged mother Tokyo Toni and showed her the cake Milano gave her. She even included a screenshot of her Twelve Steps tracking app to celebrate her sobriety milestone.

“I am grateful for 1 year and 4 months of sobriety, 16 months of blessings. Thank you, God, for this journey to happiness,” she captioned the post.

During the show, host Nick Viall asked the model what was the pivotal moment that made her get really serious about getting — and staying — sober.

“It is a very difficult thing. I had to learn discipline,” White admitted. “Even with [my] sobriety, exercise and getting closer to God with your spirituality, these things require discipline. It’s not just a one-day thing. These are things you have to keep doing everyday. All these things will come upon you through your mind, body, soul and spirit.”

“So I said, you know what, if I stay disciplined, ‘Okay, this is my practice schedule. It doesn’t matter if I stayed up the night before, if I have to go to work at a certain time, you’re going to work out,’ she explained.

White said she had to “put in the work,” especially as someone in the public eye, but she wanted to be in a good space all around.

“Sometimes it can get difficult. And along with sobriety, I just needed a clear mind,” she added. “I just feel like my kids are getting older and I just have to be 100% clear minded all the time.”
