DRINK-fuelled youths are bringing terror to a Scottish council area – with a 13-year-old boy stabbed by a knife-wielding gang.
Frightened locals claim gangs of lawless youths are running riot in North Lanarkshire, where a masked mob stabbed a schoolboy in Moodiesburn last week.

It comes as chilling images from the area show drunken rival youth teams posing with a terrifying arsenal of weapons, including machetes and axes.
Armed gangs have left terrified residents too scared to leave their homes at night – amid fears someone will be killed.
Terrified citizens are calling on the police to crack down on drunks flaunting their array of deadly weapons on social media.
One chilling image shows thugs – some wearing surgical gloves – lurking in an alley brandishing machetes, metal bars, a hammer and a club.

It is understood that rival gangs from Cumbernauld, Moodiesburn, Chryston and Croy in Lanarkshire are involved in the feud.
On Friday night, masked youths aged between 12 and 20 stabbed a 13-year-old boy near shops in Moodiesburn.
A boy was rushed to hospital after the savage attack on Friday – and police are still searching for the attackers.
Residents took to social media and called for tough measures amid concerns of further violence.
One wrote: “All I’ve seen on Facebook this past week is about youth groups causing chaos in Cumbernauld and surrounding areas.

“I hope that everyone will answer. The police really need to do something before a young child’s life is taken. Everything is worse.”
Another concerned local suggested free bus travel to make it easier for the gangs to reach the opponent’s ground.
They said: “I can get on and off the bus in different areas, which brings its own problems.
“The weapons they flaunt openly are terrifying.

“Neds are barely in their teens when they arm themselves with axes and machetes. Where are their parents?
“Strong action is needed because people do not feel safe at night.”
Politicians in Cumbernauld last night admitted residents’ concerns about employment had grown.
Councilor Ann Ballinger said: “People have told me they are concerned about walking on footpaths in the city centre, particularly at night.
“Police are working hard to sort it out.”
“The police really need to do something before a young child’s life is taken. It’s getting worse.”
Police increased patrols and visited schools to get information about gangs.
But there have been calls for more funding for overworked officers.
Tory shadow community safety minister Sharon Dowey said: “The SNP must give our hard-working police the resources they need to crack down on those responsible and help protect communities.”
Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton commented: “Anti-social behavior is a stain on our society.
“It can be a living nightmare for the communities affected. They will be praying for more police on their streets.
Police are still investigating the stabbing
BY HARRY WILLIAMSON
Police are continuing to investigate the stabbing of a 13-year-old schoolboy in Moodiesburn.
Detectives are scouring CCTV and going door to door in a relentless bid to bring the attackers to justice.
They urged anyone with information about what happened to contact police.
Officers say the woman rushed to the young victim’s aid and took him home before he went to the hospital.
The CID officers invited the woman to contact them in order to help them in the investigation.
Detective Constable Craig Hartley, of Coatbridge CID, said: “Our investigation into this serious attack is ongoing.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door inquiries to identify those responsible.
“I would appeal to drivers who have been in the area and have dashcam footage to come forward, you may have recorded something that can assist our enquiries.
“We want to trace the woman who came to the victim’s aid. She took him home before he went to the hospital for treatment.
“It is important that she comes forward to assist our investigation.”
“The government must do much more. This includes cracking down on crime, but also investing in youth work and training opportunities to turn young people away from destructive behaviour.”
Campaigners have warned that gun-wielding thugs bring “real fear and concern” to communities.
Will Linden, from the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, added: “While we recognize that the vast majority do not engage in violence, some young people do, and sometimes with devastating consequences.
“Neds are barely in their teens arming themselves with axes and machetes.”
“What’s important is understanding the complex reasons behind gun ownership—identifying why young people pick up guns in the first place and the specific risk factors.”
Council bosses in North Lanarkshire have urged residents concerned about the attack to contact police.
A spokesman said: “We are aware of reports of anti-social behavior and are working with the police to support their enquiries. Our schools work hard to educate our students about the dangers of carrying guns.
“Anyone with information should contact the police.”
Last night Inspector Barry Maguire said: “We have deployed visible patrols across Cumbernauld and Moodiesburn and our community outreach team is actively working with schools across Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and surrounding towns to gather as much information as possible to identify those involved.
“Anyone concerned about anti-social behavior is encouraged to contact the police by calling 101 as soon as possible.”
