Brandi Glanville Opens Up About Co-Parenting with Ex Eddie Cibrian and Why They Spend Holidays Together: 'I Put My Kids First'

Brandi Glanville is open about the co-parenting dynamic with ex-husband Eddie Cibrian.

On the December 29 episode of her podcast Brandi Glanville UnfilteredThe 52-year-old reality star said she spent Christmas at Cibrian’s house, explaining how it was always important to her that her children celebrate the holidays with both parents.

Cibrian and Glanville were married from 2001 to 2009 and have sons Mason, 21, and Jake, 17.

“I went there to the former house [for Christmas] because of my kids,” she said, referring to the home Cibrian, 51, shares with wife LeAnn Rimes, whom he married in 2011. “I mean, you guys don’t understand the love I have for these kids. Like, I’d take a bullet for them.”

She continued: “What was I going to do? Stay here in my house, be lonely over Christmas or go away to be with my beloved children and my in-laws who I’m obsessed with and love?”

Glanville said that despite being criticized online for her choices, she insisted, “My kids come first,” and noted that she feels proud of how she’s handled her co-parenting relationship with Cibrian since their divorce.

“I have the greatest respect for myself. Sometimes I actually pat myself on the back and [say]like, ‘Oh, my girl. You’re doing this for your boys.’ “It sounds funny and I don’t know that it would have been the other way around if I cheated and got married and invited him over,” she added, apparently referring to the fact that Cibrian and Rimes, 42, got into a relationship while the actor was still married. with Glanville.

Glanville shared that she is able to put aside any uncomfortable feelings she may have for the sake of her sons. “I can go in there and I don’t care as long as everybody’s happy and everybody’s in one place and the kids are happy and we’re having a good time and the food is good,” she said, noting that the family’s Christmas at Cibrian’s house was “lovely.” .

The day after Christmas, Glanville shared a photo from the holiday get-together on Instagram and thanked her ex-husband and country singer Rimes, 42, for hosting.

She captioned it: “Merry Christmas❤️ not my favorite facial expression but I felt ALL the love from my modern family. Thank you Eddie & @leannrimes @masoncibrian @jakecibrian & all my friends & grandparents ❤️❤️❤️.”

Back in August, Glanville spoke to PEOPLE about her life as a single mom, talking about how her children grew up living two different lifestyles due to her and Cibrian’s different financial circumstances.

“Sometimes I cry when [the kids] to go to their dad,” Glanville admitted at the time.

“They’ve got staff. They’ve got this huge mansion. They’ve got just about anything they could want,” she said of Cibrian and Rimes’ home. “And I, we have a small house and we move every other year. And it’s hard, you know, they see that the struggle is real.”

She said her sons, while enjoying their father’s lavish life, are so “sweet” and “decent”.

“They get a little entitled, which I don’t like, but then they come back to me and it’s like they’re helping me with the groceries, they’re opening doors for me,” Glanville told PEOPLE. “They tell me they love me a million times a day. It’s really cool – they see how richer people live and how moms struggle sometimes.”
