Eliza Dushku found her “true calling”.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum, 43, revealed in an interview with Boston magazine announced on Friday, Sept. 27, that she is now certified in psychedelic-assisted therapy and will complete a master’s degree in counseling and clinical mental health.
Columbia University’s Department of Psychiatry describes psychedelic-assisted therapy as a “revolutionary treatment” for mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, addiction and post-traumatic stress disorder.

According to the website, the therapy involves “medically supervised use of psychedelic drugs such as MDMA, psilocybin, LSD and ketamine, combined with psychotherapy specifically designed to optimize the mental health benefits of these drugs.”

Dushku, together with her husband, CEO of Intercontinental Real Estate Corp. and former professional tennis player Peter Palandjian, she told Boston magazine to also fund research and clinical trials into the potential use of psychedelics.
“I had the means to change direction and choose a direction in my life that was focused on healing myself so I could help heal others. I would be remiss if I didn’t share the transformation, peace and passion I have right now,” Dushku said.
“This is quite clearly my true calling, my true purpose,” added the mother of two.
As for her reasons for using psychedelics, she stated that it was a result of “feeling so bad” from past traumas, including her alleged sexual abuse by Joel Kramer, one of Hollywood’s top stunt coordinators, when she was just 12 years old. year.

Dushku’s claims, made in a January 2018 Facebook post, were later denied by Kramer in a statement to Diversity in which he called them “absolutely incorrect”.
Later that year, Dushku accused her Taurus costar Michael Weatherly about sexual harassment she said allegedly occurred after she joined the cast of the CBS series in March 2017, which ended after six seasons in 2022.
