Cardi B and Offset’s Breakup Timeline

It looks like Cardi B and Offset have decided to go their separate ways once again.

The music couple, who have been together since early 2017, secretly married the same year and had two children — daughter Kulture Kiari, 5, and son Wave Set, 2 — during their five-year marriage.

However, with so much love and support they showed each other, the couple had their ups and downs.

“I don’t like to talk a lot about love, but I feel like I have to, just because I want people to know a little bit,” Cardi said. ELLE in 2020. “There are always rumors about me and my husband and I feel like people would rather start the rumors because they want my heart to be broken. They want me to be hurt.”

She continued: “I know my relationship has a lot of drama and everything. But there’s a lot of love, there’s a lot of passion, there’s a lot of trust, there’s a great friendship. It’s always us against the world.”

While neither party has explicitly revealed the reason for the breakup this time around, Cardi, 31, posted some cryptic messages about growing up earlier this month.

“You know when you’re just developing relationships,” the “Bongos” rapper wrote on Dec. 4, hinting at possible relationship issues on her Instagram Stories.

She added to the statement, “I’m tired of protecting people’s feelings… I HAVE TO PUT MYSELF FIRST.”

Cardi B and the former member of Migos, also 31, have sparked the curiosity of fans since they unfollowed each other on social media.

Offset also made a post on his Instagram Story following the unfollowed news. Rapper “Stir Fry” announced A face with a scar a clip showing Al Pacino yelling, “Hey, fuck you, man! Who put this together? Me! Who do I trust? Me!”

Although reps for the two rappers did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment, Cardi seemingly confirmed her single status over the weekend of Dec. 9.

The rapper was candid on Instagram Live when she admitted, “I’ve been alone for a minute,” according to a livestream clip shared on X.

She continued: “But I was scared… I’m not scared, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today was, like, a sign.”

Cardi said she wants to start the new year “fresh” and “open,” as she admitted, “I’m curious about a new life, a new beginning. And yes… I’m excited.

Cardi also confirmed that she had been dropping hints about the split to her followers by unfollowing Offset and posting cryptic messages on her story.

“I don’t know if you guys were getting cues from me, from my lives or from my stories, when I put on some music or find my unfollow,” the rapper said.

When was the last time Cardi B and Offset broke up?

The rappers divorced several times during their relationship.

The first public breakup happened on December 5, 2018, when Cardi announced on Instagram that she and Offset had gone their separate ways. “We have a lot of love for each other, but things just haven’t worked out between us for a long time,” she said.

She continued: “It’s nobody’s fault, I guess we just grew out of love, but we’re not together anymore. It might take time to divorce, but I’ll always love him very much because he’s my daughter’s father.”

The couple – who had a daughter, Kulture, in July of that year – will reconcile in January 2019.

Their next divorce occurred in September 2020, when the “Bodak Yellow” rapper filed for divorce in an Atlanta court after allegedly learning that Offset had been unfaithful again.

That break didn’t last long either, as the two were spotted kissing at Cardi’s birthday party on Oct. 10, and the divorce was filed “without prejudice” in November 2020.

Before that, they got into another public feud after Offset accused Cardi of cheating.

“My wife got fucked by the N—- gang, y’all p—- know how I came,” Offset wrote in a now-deleted Instagram Story.

Cardi responded by posting a conversation on Twitter in which she sang the first verse of Keyshia Cole’s “I Should Have Cheated.” Then she told the listeners: “That whore who spins and thinks with…”

“Please, boy, stop acting stupid. Stop acting stupid,” she addressed Offset directly. “Fucking Space. Don’t play with me. What the fuck. Stop playing. That’s all I’m gonna f— say.”

She continued, “Come on, everyone. I’m fucking Cardi B n—. I think sometimes mothers—mothers forget that I’m Cardi B. If I gave this p—- to anybody, it would come out. I’m not just anyone.”

“I can’t f—ing without the usual usual swag because they’re gonna tell the world,” Cardi explained. “And I can’t fucking nobody in the industry because they will say.”

Offset would later clarify that the cheating allegations were just the result of a minor argument.

“That’s my wife. I love her to death,” Angela Yee said. “If you have a woman from New York, you know she’s got a pit bull in her mouth. She went a little crazy, and I was really fired up that night. We [were] walking back and forth and I said, ‘Watch this.'”

The couple managed to celebrate their fifth anniversary in September 2023. However, both stars attended the TikTok In the Mix music festival on December 10 in Mesa, Arizona — but were not photographed together.
