Carly Pearce Sets Tone for New Album with ‘Hummingbird’ — ‘Most Unapologetically “Carly” Song I’ve Written’ 

Carly Pearce is releasing a new album featuring the most personal music she’s ever written.

In a press release and Instagram post on Friday, the country singer, 33, announced her new album hummingbird will be released on June 14.

“The last few years have been a season of loss and growth, healing and happiness,” Pearce said in the announcement post, which featured the album cover. “Belief that if I do the inner work, I’ll build myself back up stronger than I was before, and the knowledge that I’ve earned a living and I’ll always be unapologetic about it.”

The “We Don’t Fight Anymore” singer went on to say that 14 songs on hummingbirdreleased on Big Machine Records, “embody my belief that there is light on the other side of darkness and my true love for country music.”

“When you listen to this album — wherever you are on your journey, I hope it shows you that pain can be a lesson that shows you how strong you are and what you truly deserve. That we can all find the ‘hummingbird’ in the midst of everything we go through,” she concluded. in the description on Instagram.

According to the album’s press release, Pearce will make her debut as a producer on the upcoming album, which will be her fourth studio album and first since 2021.9: Written in stone. Pearce is co-produced by Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne.

“I’m still a work in progress, but these songs represent my honesty, playfulness, and openness to keep growing,” Pearce said in the album’s press release.

Pearce married and divorced Michael Ray when she was 29, which served as inspiration for her 2021 album.

But in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in October 2023, she said that entering a new decade marked a new kind of inspiration for her. At the time, Pearce hinted at it hummingbird would reflect that change in her by portraying a more traditional country sound.

“The traditional side of country music is really important to me, so we’re really doubling down on that,” she said of the upcoming album. “So much has happened to me in the last few years in my personal and professional life, and I feel even more confident that I can put my flag on the ground with everything that I am.”

In a press release Friday, Pearce called the title lead single, the bluegrass ballad “hummingbird,” “the most dishonest ‘Carly’ song I’ve ever written.”
