Wiki/Biography

He studied until grade 12. Jitesh has longed to join the Indian Armed Forces since his childhood. He initially started playing cricket as a schoolboy as it gave him the opportunity to miss school. He continued the sport to gain some extra points to join the Indian Army. Talking about the same in an interview, Jitesh said,
I actually wanted to join the armed forces. In Maharashtra School Cricket, you get 4% grace in Army Tests if you play state cricket. I joined my school team because they competed at the state level. I decided to give it a try and that’s how I got started in the sport. My dad never questioned me and the funny thing is, my mom still doesn’t know that I’m playing at a level like the IPL. None of my cricket friends from that time played the game – they all have normal jobs now. “
Further, while sharing how he decided to take up cricket as his career, Jitesh said:
Somehow cricket has always followed me. There was a state selection for the BCCI U-16 tournament, where I scored runs. But even so, I made the Air Force my first choice, and I told my father again. He agreed with my ambition but just asked me to continue playing cricket to maintain my fitness levels. I wanted to continue playing next year, so I went for the U-19 trials and when I got selected too, I thought, I can make something of this cricket. “
