Cate Blanchett Rewears Her Gold Louis Vuitton Gown from Cannes 8 Months Later to the 2025 Golden Globes

Once again, Cate Blanchett makes a recurring outfit chic at the 2025 Golden Globes.

The Waiver the actress hit the red carpet in the same custom gold Louis Vuitton gown she wore 8 months ago at the May 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

The ensemble featured a flowing cape-style bodice with metallic details around the shoulders, as well as a column skirt with a long train. The actress, 55, kept her accessories minimal with some sparkling earrings. Her blonde hair was parted to the side and tucked behind one ear.

Blanchett wore the same dress to the premiere of the apocalyptic comedy Rumors at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in May.

As for choosing a dress for the glamorous film festival, the actress opted for something “simple and iconic that we’ll all love to watch over and over again,” her stylist Elizabeth Stewart told PEOPLE exclusively at the time.

“Note this the first time you wear this simply sparkling gold dress,” the stylist added of the design. “I see her carrying it all her life. Look for it again.”

Stewart also shared that more than 1,200 hours of labor went into the dress, which was hand-embroidered with close to 15 pounds. gold micro glass beads.

“The dariping is so masterful that it feels both fluid and carved from stone,” said the stylist, who added extra sparkle with diamond earrings and a ring from the label’s high jewelry collection.

Miniseries in seven parts Waiveralso starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Louis Partridge, is a psychological thriller adapted from Renée Knight’s book of the same name. In the series, Ravenscroft is a journalist who has “made a career out of exposing the wrongdoings of others,” according to the website of the Toronto International Film Festival, where the series debuted.

“One day she receives a mysterious book in the mail. Reading it, she soon realizes that the novel’s protagonist is based on her younger self, and the plot reveals her deepest, darkest secret,” reads the synopsis.

At the series premiere at TIFF, Blanchett wore a black suit inspired by Hodak’s menswear — tapered black formal pants and a fitted black blazer. The bottom edge of the jacket was decorated with recycled spoons, a sign of sustainable fashion endeavors.

The spoons were remarkably similar to the recycled detail on the halters she wore with Borderlands showing in August 2024. The spoons on both are locally sourced in Sweden.

Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, posted a video of Blanchett getting ready for the red carpet earlier that night.

“Spoons are back and #CateBlanchett is causing trouble in a totally recycled @hoda_kova look for today’s #Disclaimer screening,” Stewart wrote in the caption, adding, “See you in Canada in a spoon!”
