Chris Martin Gives 64-Year-Old Coldplay Fan with Arthritis a Ride to the Show

Chris Martin made a special stop — and a fan day — ahead of Coldplay’s concert on Sunday, May 26.

A fan of the seven-time Grammy-winning band shared Martin’s act of kindness via X (formerly Twitter) as Coldplay took to the Radio 1 Big Weekend stage at Luton’s Stockwood Park in England.

“That moment Chris Martin @Coldplay saw me struggling to walk he stopped his car and gave me a ride,” Saundra Glenn wrote, adding: “Blooming amazing. I can’t believe this happened.”

She continued: “What a decent guy ❤️. And we had a nice chat.”

Glenn, who lives with osteoarthritis and a “broken right hip”, later detailed her interaction with the 47-year-old frontman in an interview with the BBC. She told the newspaper that she was on her way to the cash register when she took a break and rested by the fence. Then she thought of turning around and watching the concert from home.

“But I thought I loved Coldplay and I’d never get the chance to see them in my hometown again,” Glenn, 64, said.

Then a black Mercedes approached her, and the woman inside asked her if she needed a ride.

The door opened and I said, ‘Oh, it’s Chris Martin, I can’t go in with him,'” Glenn recalled. However, others in the vehicle assured her: “‘Yes, you can’.”

When he arrived, however, Martin made sure Glenn was taken care of.

“When we got to the artist area, he didn’t leave me there, he said ‘get the golf cart and make sure Saundra gets to her destination,'” Glenn said of the music star.

“The fact that he’s aware of the disability, he’s such a nice person.”

She said she also gave Martin a good laugh when she told him: “I’m 64 Chris, I don’t work at festivals, I just came to see you and now I’ve seen you and I can go home.”

The two also had a nice chat, with Martin telling Glenn that he had enjoyed his time in Luton, prompting Glenn to recommend that he eat at the local Chicken George restaurant.

The “Sparks” singer encouraged Glenn with a few words when she told him that both of her parents are no longer alive.

He said, ‘You’re not going anywhere yet,’ and I grabbed his shoulder and chatted like two old ladies,” Glenn said.

Summarizing the encounter, she swooned: “I met Chris Martin and spoke to him and he is such a lovely man! He gave me an act of kindness for which I will be forever grateful, and he returned Luton with coolness, Thank you.”
