‘The Buccaneers’ actress talks exclusively to PEOPLE about her upcoming nuptials and why Bianchini makes her feel “safe and loved”
When Christina Hendricks finally marries fiancé George Bianchini, she wants it to happen in a special place for both of them.
“It’s going to be very festive, because we love New Orleans,” Hendricks, 48, tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I’ve been going there for years throughout my life and I just think it’s one of the greatest cities in America. I love that it has its own cuisine, architecture, music and spirit. It’s just a very vibrant and sexy city.”
An Emmy Award nominee, currently starring in a new period drama Buccaneers, met Bianchini, the cinematographer, on the set of NBC Good girls during the first season, although they did not see each other again until several years later when production moved from Atlanta back to Los Angeles. The two began dating in 2020 and got engaged in March after “proposing to each other.”
“Men are under so much pressure to make a big gesture, and they don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong,” she explains. “We read some articles about people proposing to each other and we said, ‘Why don’t we do that?’ He left first, and then five or six days later I did mine. Both were sweet and simple. We both said, ‘Please don’t shoot anything from the rocket. Don’t involve the aircraft.’”

There’s a lot to love about Bianchini Crazy people explains the alum, partly because he makes her feel like “a million bucks.” They also have a lot in common.
“We always want to do the same things,” she says, adding, “We like the same places, the same food, the same music, the same sense of humor. He just keeps me smiling and always tells me I can do anything I want and that he believes in me. ”

That helps explain why Hendricks decided Bianchini was the person she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
“Love is scary—it’s really, really scary,” she admits. “I didn’t want to be separated from him. I realized that as the days piled up, I still wanted to be with him every day, to feel safe and loved, and that felt right.”
