Suzanne Somers took care of her health Step by step colleagues and their families!
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE on the 90s Con carpet Saturday, Christine Lakin, Somers’ co-star on the hit ’90s sitcom, recalls that Step by step The cast always made Christmas “special” on set. She says there was always a holiday-themed episode of the Secret Santa taping and gift exchange to take part in.
But one year Somers — who died in October 2023 — gave everyone a gift that Lakin never forgot.

“There was one Christmas where she just gave everyone ThighMasters,” Lakin, 45, tells PEOPLE, referring to the workout gear Somers became famous for selling in the ’80s and ’90s.
“And she signed them all and gave them to families, grandmothers and relatives,” she adds. “It was so generous.”
Lakin goes on to explain why the gesture revealed so much about who Somers was as a person.

“She was self-effacing, she was an amazing businesswoman, and she was generous as hell,” Lakin says.
The actress was best known for her role as Chrissy Snow in the sitcom Three’s Company. However, she gained a new fan base in the 90s Step by step, she plays a widow named Carol Foster Lambert.
A contractor named Frank Lambert (Patrick Duffy) knocks her off her feet and the couple must immediately begin the daunting task of reuniting their families and trying to create harmony.
Jason Marsden played Rich Halke on the show for many years until the series finale in 1998. He attended Con in the 90’s wearing a pink shirt under his suit with Somers’ character on it.

At the event, he told PEOPLE that he would “drop by” on set and visit her dressing room, which was on a completely different floor than his.
She says Somers “always left the door open” and always wanted to say hi to her.
“She’s so beautiful, I was so in love, I’m still in love,” admits Marsden.
