Throughout the year, Max offers every episode of the beloved NBC sitcom. However, if you need a break this holiday season, you can dive straight into the Christmas episodes for a marathon of viewing.

As fans know, Friends The Christmas episodes bring back many funny and hilarious moments from the show’s 10 seasons — from Ross (David Schwimmer) and Monica’s (Courteney Cox) iconic dance routine to Chandler’s (Matthew Perry) quitting his job to get home to New York City in time for the holidays. There is one holiday meal per season, except for seasons 1 and 10.

Season 2 Episode 9: “The One With Phoebe’s Dad”

The series’ first Christmas episode follows Monica’s attempt to tip with cookies instead of cash, which doesn’t go over too well. While Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) tries to find her father and Ross and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) have a love fight, Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Chandler forget to buy gifts for the gang – and are forced to buy them at gas stations.

Desperate for a career in fashion, Rachel quits her job at the Central Perk Cafe after receiving bad advice from Joey and Chandler. Phoebe unfortunately learns that her dead Christmas trees are going in a helicopter, and Ross accidentally breaks Girl Scout Sarah Tuttle’s (Mae Whitman) leg and is forced to sell cookies himself to make it up to her.

Season 4, Episode 10: “The One With the Poughkeepsie Girl”

Ross is torn between a woman (Yasemin Baytok) from Poughkeepsie and one who lives nearby. Joey tries to help Monica gain respect from the unruly kitchen staff at her new job, and things don’t go well for Rachel when Chandler sets her up on a bad date with a co-worker. Meanwhile, Phoebe sets out to write a Christmas song for her friends, but struggles to rhyme.

Season 5, Episode 10: “The One With the Wrong Sister”

Phoebe decides to give back and raise money for those in need. Three male friends face the conflict of living in the same apartment, and Monica and Chandler continue to hide their relationship. Rachel discovers that her boyfriend Danny (George Newbern) is strangely obsessed with his sister Krista (Julie Lauren).

Season 6, Episode 10: “The One With the Routine”

Ross and Monica try to steal the show on set Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, while Joey tries to get a kiss from Janine (Elle Macpherson) at midnight. At home, Phoebe, Chandler and Rachel are frantically looking for Monica’s Christmas presents.

In 2021, Cox recreated a dance routine she and Schwimmer performed on the show with one of her friends: Ed Sheeran. Cox shared the video on Instagram and Sheeran followed suit and tagged his post #obviouslybetterthanross.

Season 7, Episode 10: “The One with the Holiday Armadillo”

Ross dresses up as an armadillo to teach his son Ben (Cole Sprouse) about Hanukkah. However, Chandler impresses him more when he dresses up as Santa Claus. Phoebe tries to get Rachel out of Joey’s apartment and back at her place.

Schwimmer cited this episode as the one he was most looking forward to showing his daughter when she was old enough.

“‘The One With the Holiday Armadillo’ Was Fun!” he said Glamour 2016. “I mean, it was really fun.”

Season 8, Episode 11: “The One With Ross’ Step Forward”

Ross expresses his concern to Mona (Bonnie Somerville) when she decides to send a Christmas card featuring the two of them. Chandler tries to avoid his horrible boss, Doug (Sam McMurray), and Rachel – pregnant with Ross’ child – deals with her hormones.

Season 9, Episode 10: “The Tulsa Christmas One”
