Welcome to The Blueprint, where we take apart the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and recreate them, piece by piece.
I really try to avoid speaking in clichés. But thanks to Courteney Cox’s outfit, I can’t – she really blew my mind.
On Wednesday, August 14, Friends star, 60, went to dinner with her daughter in a casual outfit that is definitely worth talking about. She wore a loose button down shirt on top, which I unequivocally always praise, and she contrasted the look with a black shoulder bag that might even have been the same one she wore back in April. And I have to say, it was a nice refreshment from the big bags we see everywhere.
She also paired the bottom half of her outfit with light and dark elements, including her pale jeans and brown belt and shoes.

I have button down shirts that seem stiffer and those that are a little more transparent and airy. I love them both for different reasons: the former, like this poplin pick from Spanx (which actually has non-functional buttons), feels more dominant and a bit like a fashion power play when I need a confidence boost.
The latter is still something I would reach for when I want it to draw attention to another item of clothing. Jennifer Lawrence, who just casually wore one with comfortable pants, is a good example of this. This top from Amazon comes in 17 colors and sizes from S to XXL.

Until today, I didn’t think I was made for bootcut jeans. But to be fair, I never thought about a bigger couple like Cox’s. And now that I see them, they’re honestly like straight pants above the knee, but they’re a less intense version of the baggy pants the further down you go. And according to one customer, “the fit of the boots isn’t extreme” on these from Old Navy, so they’re a good pair to bust out some fashion tentacles. Besides, the starting season is only a few weeks away.

I don’t really have this bag, but I do have a few black shoulder bags that go with almost all of my outfits. This Kate Spade bag has a dome shape with a flat bottom, so it shouldn’t fall over when you put it down. Another reason to get one? Jennifer Aniston wears them all the time, while others like Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock and Sarah Jessica Parker are seen with them from time to time.
