Daniel Vitalis is an American hunter-gatherer, podcast host, author, certified Maine guide, public speaker, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of WildFed, a podcast and lifestyle brand that encourages people to live a hunter-gatherer lifestyle.

His father, a paleontologist, left the family when Daniel was very young. His mother suffers from mental illness. In 2005, he met French-Canadian teacher Avani. They started a relationship in 2015 and got married in 2018.
Profession
After becoming vegan, Daniel began spreading vegan awareness. For nearly a decade, he attended conferences and seminars across North America and abroad before abandoning the vegan lifestyle. In 2008, he founded the nutrition company SurThrival.com, which sells supplements and food products.
In June 2014, he created a podcast called “ReWild Yourself Podcast” which can be listened to on iTunes and Stitcher Radio.
In 2019, he created the “WildFed Podcast” to encourage people to start their own wild food journey.
He also founded the Find a Spring website, where people can track down nearby springs.

Facts/Trivia
- As a teenager, he became a vegetarian and later became a raw vegan for nearly 10 years. According to Daniel,
I discovered veganism in the early days of the internet, and the moral issues surrounding it were emotionally disturbing to me.”
- After Daniel read a book written by a dentist, he became convinced that animal foods were essential to a healthy human diet. He gave up veganism. However, he was already a speaker at vegan events, which later became a problem for him because he would go on stage and speak about issues related to veganism. This quickly got him kicked out of the vegan community.
- After giving up vegetarianism, he began foraging and was mentored by botanist Arthur Haines, who runs the primitive-focused Delta Natural History Institute in Canton, Maine. He eventually started his own ReWild Yourself podcast and began interviewing experts in the field while exploring the hunter-gatherer lifestyle. Later, after he realized he wanted to do it seriously, he learned how to hunt.
