Danielle Brooks Put Her Own Spin on Balletcore at 2024 Critics Choice Awards: ‘Babydoll Status’

Danielle Brooks made an unforgettable red carpet entrance at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards.

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress Purple she rocked her version of the “ballet” trend in a dreamy pink tulle Monsoori gown with a dramatic black satin bow. She accessorized with jewels by Norman Silverman and Graziela Gems, and styled her hair in an updo (currently the “it” look in Hollywood).

Brooks posted a photo of the look on Instagram with the caption, “Babydoll status.” She also tagged the team that put together her look: stylist Jennifer Austin, hairstylist Tish Celestine, makeup artist Rebekah Aladdin and more.

Brooks, who played Sofia in the 2015 Broadway version of the musical, reprized the role for the big screen adaptation. Brooks told PEOPLE in 2022 that despite her previous experience portraying the character, she “had to work hard” to land the role in the new film.

Still, the opportunity, he says, was a “dream come true.”

This look is the latest in Brooks’ month-long parade of amazing outfits.

Brooks wore a purple dress for the first time since the film’s Los Angeles premiere at the 14th Annual Governor’s Awards in LA on January 9 (below). The design was see-through, had long sleeves and sparkled all over.
