Fifita played for the Wests Tigers NYC team in 2009. In 2010, he and his brother played for Tonga. In 2011 he joined Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies in the New South Wales Cup. At the end of 2012, he joined Lézignan Sangliers in the Elite One Championship. After finishing his season with Lézignan in June 2013, he attracted interest from two NRL clubs, Melbourne Storm and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

The Sharks, where his twin brother Andrew played in the 2013 NRL season, finally gave him a contract to finish the season.
